You're just a little low. Generally ore goes by the cloth standard: where you find enemies around 15-25 you'll find tin.

I recommend the Gold Coast Quarry in Westfall; it usually has two tin spawns in it (and they might be silver too). Other areas include Red Ridge mountains; a little higher, but more frequent tin spawns.

I also seem to remember (been a long time since I had to find tin), that in general if the zone had a lot of plant life you should go elsewhere for mining. The exception to this seemed to be zones that had a lot of trees/plant life and lots of mountains (hillsbrad comes to mind). But, in general if there are a ton of trees in the zone and the mobs aren't the level of the ore you're looking for, move along.

Hmm.. that's not true at all. The tree/plant thing.

-Nah-

Loch Modan is great for grinding up copper and tin. And it's perfect for questing levels 15-20.

The tin usually shows up along the east side of the map.

The Barrens is also very good for tin, although the quests there are mainly geared towards Horde - check out the various oases, however - lots of tin spawns in and around them.

even before i took up mining, i saw tons of these veins which some miners come here and post about not finding.

if you dont find it, you're just not in the right area yet. eg, dont go to sentinal hill and say, no tin ores here. instead. go up to the mountains, check the caves, before you give up on finding tin ore.

and speaking of westfall, there are 2 caves which spawn several tin ore veins, which you can do solo without having to get a VC group to go into deadmines instance.

now mining is a little different from herbalism at the same zone/level when you consider caves. you actually waste more time trying to kill mobs in the caves to get to the vein, not to mention being stuck in the cave when they respawn. so either look for veins that are out in the open/in the mountainside, or wait a few levels to where you can either easily kill the cave mobs or simply walk by most of them.

otherwise you spend so much time trying to get a few ore to increase a tradeskill instead of just levelling up to where getting that same ore is a little easier, not to mention people may reach level cap so fast that they then end up spending several levels without making anything.

Level up to 27, putting eng on horde until then.

Mining tin in anywhere but thousand needles is not worth it. There is a beaucoup ton of it there, with equal amounts of copper.

There is a cave infested with spiders in southwest Wetlands, right off the path from loch modan. It's FULL of tin, respawns fast- and incendite (quest ore, but i believe it will give you a skill up as well.) There are lots of spiders, and it's above level 15, but keep it in mind. I've been to 1k needles, and barrens, and loch modan, and it's by far the best place I've found to mine tin. Also, one thing to keep in mind that i haven't seen mentioned is time- try to time your mining trips so you're not competing with other players for the resources.

Ok, first you search for the item in that search box over on the left. Tin Ore, as it turns out, is found in a Tin Vein. On the Tin Vein page, http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/object.html?wobject=23 you can click the link to see the locations of where Tin has been found in a given map. People tend to walk along certain routes and tend to mine ore when the dot pops up on their minimap as they walk by. So ore is mined more often when it spawns near frequently traveled paths. Anyway, check out the maps to see where it's likely to have spawned at.

Like this map, showing The Barrens: http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/obj-map.html?mobid=23&zoneid=1017

Seriously, this site, wow.allakhazam.com, is a great site. Use it to its fullest.

Referencing Kelanthor's post:

Also, check underwater in the oases. And don't forget to look for a stream of bubbles in Forgotten Pools and Stagnant Oasis. If you swim there, you have the equivalent of underwater breathing. There are also two Horde quests centering on these, get them from the Tauren at/near the south gate of Crossroads. Mineral nodes guarded by lvl 16 turtles.

best place for finding tin/iron is the one thousand needles but....... since your alliance going there would be digging your own grave. I suggest going to the windshear mine in stonetalon mountain (a cave full of lvl 22 kobolds in the venture co. territory) there are about 3 veins there that you can mine. Barrens is a great place too but it's spread out best spawn points are at the razormane thorny places you can usually get quite a few there. Sorry I don't know of any places on the eastern continent but I only play orc.

for alliance you will start seeing tin around lvl 17 mobs. I liked loch moden down around the hunters lodge in the sw corner lots of copper and frequently tin. The wetlands has tin as well, spider caves and east of there.

I've found the southeast area of Loch Modan to be the best for Tin.

I have to agree with the spider cave in wetlands, the mobs there are 20-24 but fast spawning tin/incend ore make levelling up past tin fast

Loch Modan is a good place for tin and copper, silver also pops up. East of Iron Forge.
#24 Jan 31 2006 at 11:48 AM Rating: Decent
Westfall has been my favorite for tin. Also has good amounts of copper and silver ore too.

Not trying to bring back an old thread but just to let every miner know that Duskwoods has a big supply or Tin veins where you can get tin ore. I looked through the thread and no one mentioned it which means hardly anyone knows of it, while I was running through duskwood I was finding tin about 90% of the time.

Since you are a night elf and you are probably still questing in Darkshore, there is a spot there with some consistent spawns of tin. Head north to the Cliffspring river area. Hit the beach and go west, Right before you reach the beached creature is a spot that spawns a tin vein. Also follow the river east of the first waterfall for copper and the occasional tin vein. When my warrior was building her mining skill I would camp her near the spot on the beach so she could mine as soon as I logged her into the game.
