Noob Fishing

This is where a Hunter of a signifigant level goes out and charms a mob that is of the same look of the mobs in the newbie area, and names said mob the same name of the newbie mobs. This Hunter then goes to appropriate newbie area, sets his or her pet to 'stop' and hides off somewhere until he sees a newbie attack his pet, at which time he shoots the noob.

That's Noob Fishing.

I would recommend you start fishing in your newbie area, or any of the alliance newbie areas. If you get the message that your fish has gotten away you are fishing in an area that is too high level for you. There are better fishing poles available and lures to increase your fishing skill, but you don’t need to worry about those when you are starting out.

I would also suggest you take up cooking at the same time, assuming you have any interest in the cooking skill. You can use the fish you catch to quickly level your cooking. If you buy three cooking recipes you can take your cooking skill past 150 without using anything but the fish you catch.

Brilliant Smallfish – Skill: 1
Longjaw Mud Snapper – Skill: 50
Bristle Whisker Catfish – Skill: 100

You can buy the smallfish and mud snapper recipes from the vendor at the wagon in Goldshire. The catfish recipe you can buy from a vendor standing next to the fishing trainer in Stormwind. Just ask a guard for directions to the trainer. I’m sure you can buy them elsewhere, but those are where I’ve bought them.

Go to a newbie area and start fishing. Save all your fish. When you have a couple of stacks of smallfish find a fire and cook them up. Keep cooking smallfish until that recipe turns green. By this time you should have a good number of mud snappers. Cook those up. Keep cooking mud snappers until the recipe turns green. Now you can cook catfish all the way to 150 and beyond.

After you’ve reached about 50 to 75 fishing try moving up to the next highest level area. In the human lands that would be Goldshire. Also remember to stop fishing and cooking once your skill hits 75. You won’t gain any more skill until you pay a trainer to increase your skill. If you aren’t getting enough catfish in the second area, try fishing in the capital. I would not recommend you start fishing in the capital as most of your fish will get away because your skill is so low. But about skill 75 to 100 fishing in the capital city should work fairly well.

Once you reach 150 in any of your secondary skills you’ll need to buy a book to increase your skills. The books cost 1 gold from a vendor or about 2 to 5 gold from the auction house. The fishing book can be bought in Booty Bay.

Booty Bay is a good place to fish, but at 150 fishing you’ll have to buy lures or far too many fish will wiggle off your hook.

For night elf if you start fishing in Darnassus you can get bristle wisers at like fishing 25, there is also Rut'theran village, and Darkshore which both have great fishing areas, rainbowfin albacor, brilliant small fish, etc, i have my fishing to almost 90 and im only lv 14 its really easy to lv your fish when your ne, partially because of the fishing quests

Seriously, lving fishing to 150 is very easy. Just fish in Stormwind canals until like 75.

Then go to Wesfall and fish off the beach until you hit 150.

Then go to Booty Bay get the Fish Book so you can go past 150 and you can get to 225 right in Booty Bay.

It takes awhile when you start geting high. I think I was getting a skill up in Booty Bay after every 6 fish caught.

You probably don't need them but spring for a stack of Worms just so you have them. I basically have one rule when I move to a new area. I fish until I get a "Your Fish Got Away" message.

If that happens then i pop a worm on and go from there.

You don't have to move to a higher level area to go up in fishing. Going up depends on your cap and the NUMBER of fish caught. I went to 150 fishing in the pond behind the armory in Goldshire. It's a real low-level area - I just had to get training when I got to the cap.

Since you are a night elf, you will want to do the fishing quests in Auberdeen - there are two quests - one is found close to the griffen post (on the beach), and the other is gotten upstairs in the Inn. Completing those quests should get you to 150 easily.
