I've been playing my Shaman alt in 21-29 WSG. Lowbie PvP is great fun. I've started to powerlevel up engineering to inflict some extra pain. My mates tell me that exploding sheep are really useful.

I wanted to hear what the rest of you PvPers who have engineering recommend using?

What's your favourite explosive?

I hear that the Discombobulator Ray is excellent if you can get your hands on one.

Any other must haves or PvP engineering successes?

Also to note at the moment I can only go up to 225.

Thanks for any responses

Exploding Sheep are fun to use...

Ever hear of "The Big One"?

The speed helmet and boots can help often in BG.I think these may be higher than 225 tho...

Just a list:

Flame- & Ice Deflector, Gnomish Universal Remote (against other Enineers), Ornate Spyglass, Minor Recombobulator (against Mages), Discombobulator Ray, Goblin Jumper Cables, Compact Harvest Reaper Kit, Goblin Land Mine, Gnomish Cloaking Device, Mechanical Dragonling, Mechanical Repair Kit, Goblin Mortar (if you're already Gobo), Gnomish Net-o-Matic Projector (in chase of gnome), Catseye Ultra Goggles, some Rocket Boots, Parachute Cloak, Gnomish Shrink Ray (in chase of gnome). And some disorienting explosives.

You will find out your specific needs, after a while...

more for BG, But a Goblin land min placed at your flag will intrupt somebody taking it, it is also nice to use MC hat and send a player after his buddies.

I PVP alot and I just love engineering :)

My nr 1 favourite is the "Gnomish deathray".
got this at lvl35 and insta killed an alliance hunter (lvl 60) who was stinding outside scarlet monastery /spit spamming me.
(4535 dmg)
safe to say he was quite suprised....

My nr 2 favourite is "the big one" totally awesome bomb with 10 yard blast radius. (blizzard and rain of fire only has 8 so that would give you an idea of the massive area effect)
the 5sec "gouge" adds to the fun :)

My nr3 is the "discombobulator ray"
this one is awesome! Can be used by anyone so all pvp oriented ppl should atleast be intressted in purchasing some of em from you. one of the few engineering cash cows :D
Turns the target into a leper gnome reducing spell and melee dmg by 40 and their runningspeed to 80% for 12sec.

(easy to make except for the Jade, 5 charges each)

the mind-control helmet seems like a winner. i actually dont see people using it in BG too much though..even those bombs with the few seconds dazing would be very useful to annoy a bunch of players at the flag in Arathi Basin.

in the unexpected pvp you find in the open world, i haven't met too many engineers using their gadgets. it seems most things happen so fast you are focusing on killing or running more than trying to pull out a gadget.

however, when you do remember to, it can be a winning fight, just like the gnomish deathray which can take out 4000 HP..pretty much enough to kill a lot of level 60s.

Cant belive i forgot the mindcontrol cap. This is truly an awesome thing.

It makes the target your pet (yes just as a hunter) (and no cant use it if you are a hunter/warlock with your pet out)

The thing about this item is that World of warcraft manages to utilize the skills of the target very good. Ive seen some bugs though.. Warriors using bow instead of melee etc..

when I used this on a priest and i orderd him to kill his friend the first stopped to buff me.

When used on a rouge the rouge got into stealth and hit sprint to whack his friend from behind with an ambush.
so some decent AI is involved :)

When this little thingamajigg do fail it turns YOU into their pet for 20seconds... However most ppl have no idea what the heck is happening so you will most likely just be green to them for 20sec while he tries to figure out whats goin on...

also many addon packs have the hunter bars disabled by default when you are not playing a hunter. this makes it impossible for many targets to use your own hat against your friends.

And before I stop ranting on about this I would like to add that "hatting" a mage and send him onwards to kill his own group casting massive ammounts of instant arcane explosions almost made me fall of my chair laughing...

Guys, thanks as always for the info, rate ups all round!

I'm only really interested in applying engineering to PVP in WSG, or AB (if anyone's ever gonna play it at lowbie level), and also 225 is going to be my limit for a while... I'm waiting to make sergant at lev 29 :P

I have yet to get my hands on the Discombobultor, but Pimmelman said that it has only 5 charges. Do you literally mean 5 time use and then it has to be thrown away and you get a new one?

Also in the Mage Forum babibel said:
'... but u can get ur silence on other ways. im ingi and i love my iron grenades u can throw them while running and they stun 3 secs and btw they are cheap'

Can you throw iron grenades whilst running?! Insta Cast Bombs? Or does this guy not have a clue?

Flamo, I was just reading about the iron grenades too. Apparently you will have a spell cast timer, about 1 second, but you can in fact cast it while running.

Yes the discombobulator only has 5 uses but its incredible easy to make. and they stack ontop of eachother so carrying around 50 charges or so isnt a problem.

It also dehorses the target which is always nice if you got a runner.

So I finally got my *** in gear and spent an entire rather costly morning power leveling engineering from 0 to 225 (since i'm still lev 29). Looking forward to adding some extra nastiness in WSG.

I noticed that items such as the net-o-matic and the rocketboots etc require a engineering skill level of less than 225. So does this mean you can specialise into goblin or gnome at 225 (expert) or do you have to become artisan (which requires me to be higher than level 29).

I'm still keeping my character at 29 for a while but I would love to use some of the gnome/goblin items in PvP now.

Ok firstly, you can get to 300 wihout a spec of either gob or gnome, the spec trainer is not the person that unlocks 225, their is a guy in gadget outside the goblin trainer that dose that. So some items that would just eat up folks in their 20's that you can use.
The Big One
Gnomish Mind Control Cap
Mithril Frag Bomb
Goblin Sapper Charge(since you are a shaman and can heal the self dammage)
Goblin Mortar
Mechanical Dragonling
Gnomish Cloaking Device
Goblin Land Mine(theese are my AB favorite, jsut becasue they intrupt capping)
Flash Bomb(druid in animal form got your flagg, fear the bugger)

Plenty of oter stuff, but those are the ones that will casue folks to get angry that you pulled it off, I would have freeked out if at 29 somebody pulled a dragonling on me.

I belive theres a lvl requirement to get artisan.

Im not sure if you are able to specialize at 225 though... you could just go to ratchet and see if you can get the gnomish engineering quest. (dont know where the goblin one is located)

Sadly I went to get the gnome engineering quest and it has a level 30 requirment :(

Seems to make sense... having those trinkets etc at 29 seems a bit overpowered ... especially when they're on a shamman :)
