Considering switching professions..Follow

Currently I'm at 204 leatherworking, and 225 skinning. I don't have the money to upgrade to artisan or else I would. Anyways..at level 204 LW I have finally been able to make ONE thing that sells. Dusky Belt. I know I can make Barbaric Bracers, Gem-studded Belt, and Green Whelp Armor and sell those, but I don't have the money to squander on the patterns..and then the mats..

Now I know once I get higher I can go into Dragonscale which is what I planned, but I don't think it's worth all the money I put into this with no good outcome..I mean I'm level 204 LW and I'm only wearing one thing I can make (that I didn't even make mind you (Barbaric Bracers) )

I was considering dropping it for Enchanting. I hear Enchanting/Skinning combo is good money making, and Enchanting is still beneficial..even at its low levels.

I'm a 33 Shaman if that makes a difference.

Anyways..what do you think? Stick it out with LW or drop it for Enchanting?

I would think it foolish for you to drop your courrent profession for enchanting, firstly, you think that LW is expensive with the patterns!!!! wait till you see the price of AH plans for enchanting, then the leveling it, thats a whole world of hurt. usualy being a tailor helps level enchanting form about 0-110, then you have to start DE weapons and armor that is not worth making, so it becomes time to DE BoP stuff form insances. Also remember that Sith just opened up with a pile of new mail armor made by leather workers(my shammy just droped herb/alch, to take up Skin/LW. so give me a week or so and i will tell ya how those sell, but my bet is well.

Would dropping it for herbalism be better? I dunno..I've got 1g at lvl 34 and I don't know how I'm supposed to get enough for a mount and skills by 40..=\

I wouldn't recommend dropping a profession you've gotten up that far....(unless you don't enjoy it for its own sake...they really are money sinks ....if you don't enjoy them then don't do them)

I would recommend the following....

Stop using all your leather for leatherworking. Sell the leather on the AH. Sell the armor kits on the AH if you think you can make money on em, but usually you'll sell the leather for more than the armor kits. Once you are higher level and can afford to pick the skill back up, then go back and farm the leather you need just for skillups.

If you insist on dropping leatherworking....

Take a profession that's a gathering profession, gather and then sell on the AH. Enchanting while not designed to be a gathering profession, per se, really can be one. You just disenchant the magic items you find and sell the mats on the AH. If you don't put time/effort into getting the skill up and never take it above skill 75, then it's not a money sink. Get the enchantrix addon and look at what stuff disenchants too, before deciding on whether to disenchant or not. Later when you have money you can decide if you want to take it up further. Remember though....if you are an enchanter, its much more difficult to enchant your alts' gear, but easy to enchant other people's :-) My wife is still a bit sore about that one......
