#1 Oct 12 2005 at 10:51 AM Rating: Default
i have a idea of my own but if u think ur better plz post it.
i though something like this:1. mining/blacksmithing(good moneymaker but no mail till 40 and then the instance drops will replace any mail i can make) 2. mining/herbalism(good moneymaker and at the lvl 40+ i can chose blacksmithing, engeeniring or alchemy) 3. enchanting/herb or mining(somewhat moneymaker and the enchantings are good)
4.leatherwork/skinning(good money and personal use till lvl 40, useless after that except for the bags)
Plz give me some good combinations of ur own or tell me what do u use on ur shammy and have good use of it.

Leatherworking starts making mail as well as leather at the higher skill levels. You just have to look closely at the different leatherworking specializations (elemental, tribal and dragonscale if I recall correctly) as you can only do one so you have to make sure you pick the one that has stuff you'd like to wear. In general though, instance drops and quest rewards that are Mail appear to be more aimed at shaman rather than hunter so you can do quite well without being a leatherworker.

If you save all of your money until 40 without doing a tradeskill and without buying in AH (just selling what you gather), you should have a pretty good chance at being able to buy your mount and a set of mail from the AH. It's really a matter of if you find tradeskills fun. You probably won't make money at it so it has to be fun.

If you decide on two gathering skills, make sure you don't pick two that both require a "tracking" skill on your mini map since you can't stack em. For example, don't pick herbalism and mining since you can only see ore nodes or herbs not both on your mini map at once.

The secondary professions/skills like first aid and cooking can also be worked on wether you have two primaries or not. I highly recommend the first aid skill, but not if you are going to pick tailoring for some reason as you'll have two competing skills that need your cloth.

I would suggest;

1. Don't go enchanting, atleast until later levels. Low level make very little, if any money selling enchants and most low level items sell to vendor for more that they Dis-Enchant into. Enchanting is consider a hugh money sink early on!

2. Stay away from 2 gathering skills at once. You can track only one resorce at a time (minerals/herbs), unless you like switching back and forth ALOT.

3. First Aid is the most important skill you can learn! It will save your life many many times! Not to mention saving you a 10% repair cost from every death, pays for itself many times over. There are a million ways to use mid-battle, for that heal that turns the battle.

4. Don't pick a profession based on how much money you can make, it is usually very little compaired to questing and drops. Yes, this will change at end-game when you have the rare patterns that sell.

5. Do pick a profession you will want to use. As a hunter Tailoring could be done, just realize you will not be using any items you make. All items will be vendored or sold at the AH, usually for less money than what it takes to actually make.

ok:

1. train cooking/fishing/first aid, because those are secondary prfesions (u can have them while haveing two primary professions) i mean its always good to hae something to do with all that linen.

2. im a shamen and i chose engineering/mining, good money make with mining, and u can get some head gear early with engineering, and u can sell devices later for ALOT to those who love PvP, trust me yoour trinklets will sell like hotcakes, and if your lucky you might get a schmatic to make a robot pet, like a bombling or squierl

3. leather working/skinning, good to make your own armor, and u can sell armor kits, but leather doesnt sell much at AH. it can help u out later though.

4 if i couldent choose anything else i would say Enchanting/(any gathering skill), i would say this, because when your done with soulbound items, or binds when ... items you can disenchant them and buff up your current armor and wepons, and speaking of how much money you can make selling weapon enchants latter, and with any gathering skill, you know you will be spending quite some time at AH

I believe it's dragonscale leatherworking that's primarily mail. On my shaman, I was a big fan of herbalism/alchemy. never can go too wrong with some extra buffs...of course, I didn't really use it to make money, except the selling of kingsblood.
