skinning and mining or herbalismFollow

I am a lvl 28 hunter currently with skinning and leatherworking. I want to drop the lw and pick up another gathering skill. This is my third character, I have 300 lw/skinning on my rogue (different server)and I just want to play. I don't want to sit in IF making items and scanning the AH.

What is more profitable? What is easier to level since I will have to go back to the noob zones? It seems like it would take forever to level mining to where I can start mining iron.

If you aready have a skinner on the same server than pick up mining and Herblism and sell for profit it is easy to level up if u make a human charcter and start looking for the goods

If you go mining I suggest heading to Loch Modan. It's loaded with copper so you can start there at mining level 1, then move on to the tin and silver in the area. You can even swim in the loch for copper spawns ;)

As for herbalism vs mining imo minig has more audiences because you get engineers and blacksmiths for customers. So in theory twice as many people would need your bronze bars then would need your kingsblood. Of course you could argue less demand will allow you to sell at higher prices, but I'll let someone else burn that bridge.

I started a couple of alts in the gathering professions and on Aggramar, I think it's a toss up as far as $$/hour inveseted on Herbalism & Mining. Prices for metal and stone seem to be more stable than Herbs. To get to the Iron level quicker, you can always try to buy or trade for ore and get the Mining skill up through Smelting.

herbalism may also require 10-16 slots in the bank as you try to get full stacks. some herbs sell just fine in sets of 5x but many dont.

with the extra gems you find during mining, i think mining actually may be more profitable.

also like ibid said, tons of ore on AH usually still get bought compared to 5 stacks of some herb at the AH.
