skinning vs mining vs herbalismFollow

For a low lvl newb on thier first character, what do you think is the most profitable profession out of these three? And how do they scale up in terms of profit. For example I know that at low lvls skinning is good because on average you can sell a light leather for about 50 cp to 1 silver a pop. Also mining seems good at lower lvls because on average I can sell a stack of 10 for about 10 to 40 silver depending on the market. What im wondering is how does herbalism compare to skinning and mining not only at low lvls but at higher lvls as well.

There's alot of money in mining if you sell it all as bars. I think this is the best starting gathering profession. On ravencrest 20xCopper Bar goes for 80-90s. Thats alot. Later you can get alot if you're lucky to get some of the rare crystals.

Herbalism starts making lots of money when you get to Briarthorn (70). In those you will find Swiftthisle too which sells for alot. Like 5g for 20, cause its needed by rogues for Thistle Tea, and for Swiftness Potion. Also Briarthorn is nice, as its needed for Swiftness Potion too.

Other ones i know sells for lots is Strangelkelp, needed for Free Action Potion, and Fadeleaf, needed for rogues blinding powder.

Im a rogue (with herbalism / alchemy), just started recently after quitting mining / blacksmithing, so i only know of the Rogue and PVP related potions and stuff.

There seems to be alot more miners than herbalists as far as I can see, hence alot more competition over ore/bar prices.

As for money in the end, they're all about the same.

But, early on your best bet is probably Mining > Herbalism > Skinning.

Mining you can make good money from the start selling copper bars.

Herbalism, once you get up around 100-120 or so, you can start making some decent cash, and it only gets better from there.

With Skinning, it starts off really slow, but you obtain leather in mass quantities doing killing quests and such, unlike the other two, where you have to constantly search for resource points. But, the leather sells for less early on than the materials gathered from mining or herbalism.

Once you get to getting Heavy Leather and, even more so, Thick Leather on a regular basis, then you can start making some good cash with Skinning.

So, Skinning is slower to get to the good stuff than the other two, but they're all still really good for making cash.

Well most of the upper tier herbs sell for more than the mining equvilents. Since I can get thorium for 3-5g a stack but there are many differnt herbs that sell for that much or more because they are used in "end game" potions, like fire protection, mongoose, free action, and similar things. 2 big money makers are fadeleaf(cause its sorta rare) and ghost mushrooms because they ahve limited spawns in usually high lvl areas. Dreamfoil, plaguebloom, wintersbite are other higher lvl ones that sell decently in large quantities. Black lotus is another but extremely rare, but I see them going for 10g EACH. They are so rare that I found one in silithus and said so in guild chat (my main is not an herbalist, and my herbalist is too low to harvest them) that someone switched chars and flew out there just to harvest it.

As for skinning, as mentioned, its pretty slow on profits but once you get to the thick/heavy/rugged leather area it becomes fairly decent.

I depends on you secondary prof., but a way u can make big money is pick 2 of three and sell for huge profit gain which means possiblty for the iteams u want geartly increase. exp. i am alcimest and i make huge profit off of people by seeling herbs i dont need in groups of twenty. u can hang around in starting towns and make lods off of new players that want herbs that are to lazy to find themselves. Stay in town till five levels above max mob lvl and sell the trade goods to people who are looking for them. alawys keep a eye out on the messages for people looking for trade goods and post at actuions for cash.
