Where do I go to specialize in Leatherworking?Follow

#1 Oct 07 2005 at 2:33 PM Rating: Decent
I just reached a skill of 225 in leatherworking. I have been to the tribal leatherworker in Thalanaar (or whatever the place is called) in Ferelas. I have went to the leatherworker in Darnassus, and the one on Aerie Peak. So far, I have not been able to find anyone who will let me specialize in tribal leatherworking. Do i have to have a higher skill level? if so, what is required?

To start down the path to be a Tribal Leatherworker, you must first visit with Pratt McGrubben in Feathermoon. First he'll ask you for some Thick leather. Then he will start you on the quest that teach you wildleather patterns. There are 5, I think. Mostly you grind to get turtlescales. Once that's all done, he sends you to Darnassus, then you can talk to the Tribal Trainer.

Does Pratt sell the patterns for the turtle scale stuff? I only have the bracer pattern and the chest piece pattern. Where are the others? I was able to find someone who could put my mats together into gloves, but i am missing the Helm for the next part.

To raise your skill above 225 in LW you have to visit the trainer in Arie Peak in Hinterlands regardless of your specialization.

I believe Pratt has the Turtlescale bracers pattern you need. However, it is a one at a time availability one. I think the rest can be learned form the trainer in the Hinterlands

Ok, thanks for the info. I figured out that the guy in the Hinterlands teaches those last needed patterns.

Also, it is worth noting that the turtles on the beach in the hinterlands drop scales a bit more often. The only big problem i have found is that occasionally, well a lot, someone will kill turtles and not loot them. There was an undead warlock in particular that kept killing turtles but not looting them. Since I play alliance, there was no way to ask him to loot them... (Although I think he did a lot of it just to spite me... especially since the turtles drop something that vendors for about 45s for a stack of 5)

Again, thanks for the info, however, are there any more quests past the one the tribal trainer gives, where I have to make 2 pieces of wild leather?

in preparation for the tribal path, i found this from another thread.

after talking to pratt mcgubben, he'll ask for the following things in getting those 5 recipes. not all at once of course, this is just the total you'll be turning in to get all the 5 recipes.

thick leather x 200
turtle scales x 144
silken thread x 18
heavy silken thread x 12
wildvine x 7

well, the guy in thalannar should be the tribal trainer but when you couldn't get the trainer to give you the quest its most likely 1. you weren't lvl 40 (I thinks that's the cut off) or 2. you LW lvl wasn't above 250 yet. If one of those requirements aren't fulfulled, then you can't specialize.

Actually, the problem was not talking to Pratt, as stated above

Also, the LW skill required is 225, not 250

o i was thinking of elemental leatherworking (That's what i do) and elemental requires 250
