My fishing is level 216/225, I have a strong fishing pole(+5), and I use Aquadynamic Fish Attractors(+100).

Sunday I fished for an hour and a half did not catch any event related fish.

What am I doing wrong? Am I just to low to catch the event fish?

I'm a level 34 rogue so I cannot do the uncap quest.

Please advise.

Thanks.

I wasn't in the fishing tourney this weekend, but if it was like the previous one, you had to fish into the pools of tastyfish that were found up and down the coast.

You could see the name of the pools of fish pop up if you moused over them. You had to cast your bobber into the pool of fish (simply recast untill it lands in there) and then fish as normal. When you caught something it had a good chance of being a "special" fish for the tourney.

Hope that helps.

This is exactly right. You have to find what looks like small whirlpools and toss your bobber inside of the circle. That’s the only way to catch the tastyfish or any of the special fish.

As long as you can fish without getting the message that the fish got away your all set. In your case I doubt you need to use a lure. Once you have enough skill to fish in the area your done with anything to do with fishing. The rest is all up to speed and luck.

You can only pull four or five fish out of a school before it vanishes. So you’ll have to run, or ride, up and down the shore looking for new pools. Once you find one and manage to cast your bobber into the circle you could pull up an oily blackmoth, a firefin, an eel, some kelp or a tastyfish. Or if your lucky, one of the three types of special fish you can turn in for a prize. The first person to get 40 tastyfish and turn them in to tje goblin near the inn will win the competition and get to choose a prize.

Dang I missed it. I guess my questions is how often will they be holding these new events and are they always in BB.

Thanks for filing me in folks. I thought I could just sit on my gnome duff in BB and rake in the swag ;)

Now that I know how it really works I should be fine next Sunday.

Thanks a bunch.

Thus far it’s taken place each Sunday at 2:00pm central on Blackhand. Though this time works out fine for me, I do hope Blizzard holds it on different days and different times. As it stands its very unfair for people who have to work on Sundays.

I will second the working Sundays issue... I also hope they can make contests that will be more like quest based. You know finding a particular fishing hole anywhere in the world (your lvl based of course, don't want to see a lvl 10 Night Elf in Ratchet...lol). And maybe even a proficiency type contest. Oh well only time will tell.

also you can replace your strong fishing pole(+5) with an iron one, http://wow.allakhazam.com/item.html?witem=6367 which is +20 to fishing :) or this one if your horde http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/item.html?witem=19022
remember the higher your skill the higher in any of the loot tables you can get ie

water requires 150 you have 200 you get what is in the table from 150-200 or you have say 300 skill plus 100 bob plus 25 pole plus pots and other buffs/enchants your skill can get high enough to get the funny stuff... like the one ring in org and stormwind{not sure if it's still in the game...}
