I'm sure this ? has been asked and awnsered, but can anyone tell me a good spot for a 46 hunter to get rugged leather? Thanx
I would suggest you type "rugged leather" in the search box to the left and see which mobs drop it where. From what I can tell doing this, it looks like most of the mabs with a reasonable % chance of dropping it are high level dragonkin (50+ elites), but you might find something a little easier on the list.
around 46 you and your pet can start fighting in blasted lands against the 48-49 mobs..those will drop thick a lot but you'll get a good amount of rugged also.
as you close in on 50 and you want to fight mobs 3-4 levels higher, more 50+ mobs will start dropping rugged.
in blasted land and burning steppes, though, there are people questing on these same animals. so you may find that you don't even have to kill anything...just show up and skin away.

There are some stealthed cats in the eastern end of the hinterlands. The ones over level 47 have a good chance of giving you rugged leather. Thats where I first started to get it from skins, not from combining thick leather to make it.

Hi all,
first a slight correction ;) the stealthed cats mentioned above are actually not cats, they are wolves called Silvermane Stalkers. the drop rate is not that high (you'll get more thick than rugged), but you have a chance to get thick wolfshide (for tribal leatherworkers). It is maybe the best spot to start farming rugged leather, but i suggest you to move to Un Goro Crater as soon as your lvl allows you to do so. You can go there now, but don't go there alone (at your lvl). There are many quest that involve killing of beasts that drop mostly rugged leather, so you'll get xp at the same time you get the leather :)
