YOu need to be lev 40 and have at least 210 220+ in blackmith skill. I suggest you to look into the thread posted in the armosmith mission on this web site or on tHottbot web site.
You will find there the detail of all the step you need to perform to become armorsmith.

I am myself an armorsmith and I am not too sure if I made a good deal or not mat this stage:

Before making your choice concider the following points:
- Why do you want to become armorsmith to make money, to make your how cool stuff or Both.
- What does sell best for a good price on your server( armor or weapon).
- How hard to find is the material to make armors and weapons when you are lev 300. Be aware that ar this step most people are raiding and going in instance to obtain cool weapons and Armor are what you will be able to do will be able to stand against those item they will get for free and with fun. ( the bloody arcanite bar and enchanted torium seems to be really hard to get with out paying a huge price).

Good luck and kep us informed.

Hmmm, I seem to remember something about being level 45 for this, I could be wrong, but I kept going up and up in smithing and was at 250 before I realized it was a character level cap of 45 I thought, not the smithing cap that was stopping me.

EDIT: For advice: DON'T take smithing to make money, especially not armor-smithing
