cooking supply seller in thunder bluff has a recipe u can use at lvl 1, havent found others other than ah, but the ones u get from trainer at start can lvl u up, i used the boar one adn just sat and killed boars in front of orgrimmar, and just get the ones from the trainer, they work to lvl u up, if u got the money u can buy the ones from the ah u can use, but i just mainly stuck to the ones the train teaches u, and got my skill to what it is now

when you get cooking training, you should have learned about 3-4 recipes right away. check your recipe list.

the next ones on the trainer list are around lvl 15 or 20 cooking, so if you're wondering how to get there, you already have recipes.

my tip for you is to go to brill..

over there you kill the darkhounds which drop stringy wolf meat which will bring your skill up to 15 in around 10 min.

then you go to the trade goods guy in brill and buy the recipe for crispy bat wings which you can use once you get up to skill15 cooking...now you go outside of brill and just kill everything that walks :P the darkhounds drop the meat and the bats drop the wings...gets you up to 50 in no time...dunno if you want to take fishing but if you do then go back to ogrimar once you are up to 50 and go to the fishing trainer which sells the recipe for the rainbow trout :)

you should get up pretty fast :0

If you are Horde...

I leveled cooking and fishing at the same time. Go to thunderbluff, talk to the fishing supplier, they have 3 recipies there. Brilliant smallfish for level 1, the Longjaw mudsnappers (frog things) for your next cooking grind, and then catfish. You can fish for about 45 minutes to an hour and max both fishing and cooking till you can geet to BB for fishing book, and Desolace for the cooking book. It takes a bit of patience though. And don't forget to buy the shiny baubles, and upgrade your pole to the +5 one as soon as you can use it.

You can start your grind right in the poond in TB, once you get to were you can cook catfish, I suggest (don't have to) going to the waters outside of the wailing caverns in the barrens. There you will be able to catch deviate fish and possibly turn a profit on yout time. Also, kill the kolkar in the area, they drop the recipe for Deviate delights (rare, but they still drop it)

have fun and good luck

I recently started as a Dwarf and starting working on cooking. Kill boars and cook the meat. This will get you over 25 easy. Then you probably have done the quest that gives you the Beer Bated Boar Ribs quest by now. Once you hit 25 read it and make those. I made 24 of them and hit 55.

As a mage it's very useless to spend too much time cooking, but I'm lvl 221. To start off I just saved all my meats and at about level 15 (player level, not skill) I farmed vultures from Westfall, they drop eggs, which I used to skillup to 40. At that point I had enough cooking skill to advance with other meats I had. I neglected to buy the book, so I got my skill to 149 and didn't cook anything. Then I read the book and with all my meats I just sat by the Darnassus trainer/supplier and cooked my 70+ pieces of meat, and now cooking's at 221.

About the only advice I can give ya is hold all your meat and only use when you can actually skillup from it (unless you're at like 280 or something)

This is more or less how I level cooking on the alliance side as well. The brilliant smallfish and longjaw mudsnapper recipes can be bought from the vendor standing outside by the wagons in Goldshire. The catfish recipe can be bought in Stormwind, just as a guard for the fishing trainer and the fishing vendor will be standing right next to him.

You don’t need to buy a fancy fishing pole or lures to fish. However, at later levels, they do come in very handy and by that time you can better afford them. I would suggest you buy your cooking skill, fishing skill and the first two fish recipes and then return to your newbie area. You’ll be able to fish in the water there without worrying about the fish getting away. Keep fishing until you have about two stacks, 40, brilliant smallfish. Then find a fire and cook those. Keep fishing and cooking smallfish until that recipe turns green. By this time you should have a respectable amount of mudsnappers. Cook those up. Your fishing should now be high enough to allow you to fish in higher level waters. Try the water in Stormwind. If you have a lot of fish getting away you will either need to buy lures to fish there or try fishing in the waters outside of Goldshire. Ideally what you want right now if to be pulling in both mudsnappers and catfish. Keep cooking the mudsnappers until that recipe turns green. Then start cooking the catfish. The catfish will take you over 150 cooking. And you can do all this without having to buy any type of spices.

Keep an eye on your skill levels, both for fishing and for cooking. Once you reach your cap you won’t gain any more skill until you visit a trainer. I can’t count the number of times I’ve sat there and fished or cooked and scratched my head wondering why I wasn’t gaining any more skill. Then I realize my skill has been capped for a good long while. *sigh*

Once you reach 150 skill you will have to buy a book to advance your skill. The fishing book is located on the bottom level of Booty Bay, near the bank. The cook book is located in the elven lands, not Desolace for the alliance, and is much harder to give directions to. But you can usually find these books in the auction house if you don’t mind spending more money for them. They are a gold each from the vendor. They are often two or three gold in the auction house.

I'm pretty sure I took Rock Scale Cod from 175 to 225, took quite a bit but I got it there.

150 to 175 was a mess of Gooey Spider Cakes or sumthing like that and one other I can't recall.

Once i hit 35 and can go to 300, I will take Yellowfin and Zesty Clam Meat as high as I can. I have been fishing like a S.O.B lately and have like 240 Yellowfin(probably would be like 600, but I'm vending them now), 140 Z. Clam, and 100 Winter Squid.

300 should be easy ;)
