I got my fishing to skill level 132 and I'm currently using a Big Iron Fishing Pole. Where's a good place to build up my Fishing Skill?

I am close to you in level and I am still fishing in booty bay.

fishing in ratchet or bb works still, i got to like 190ish in ratchet, and it still was going up, but stopped at there, and moved on to other places. but u can fish in either places, bb is 125 min lvl req to fish, but ur at 132 so that dont matter, ratchet is some what easier to catch stuff at, and seems like u go up faster there, and in bb u can get the book to get to 225 fishing, for like ~1g, and then could sit and fish in those 2 places and prob get to 225ish

You cannot fish in booty bay til your skill is 150; Ratchet is fine until then. I went to 225 in BB, then had to wait til lvl 40 to get my fishing quest.. now im going to start fishing in Feralas and keep an eye out for new spots in other zones.

===

I see the post above me says min for BB is 125... not on Bronzebeard, not for me anyway.... with or without skil bonus lures etc, i could not fish in bb til 150.

Can someone suggest a place to get my skill up to 125? It's only 88 right now and I don't know where to be.

Seems that there's a vacancy for an Alliance Fishing Guide here.

I got up to 125 just yanking smallfish from the pond behind the Goldshire Blacksmith shop. Of course, now I need to find a trainer to go any further.

On the plus side, I was able to use all those smallfish and longjaw mud snappers to get my cooking up to 80 as well! The trader right there sells the recipes.

You can and will skillup ANYWHERE that is fishable. You can go from 1-300 in Stormwind for example.

Get an intellect buff tossed on you, I found it helps since it is in fact a skill that you are leveling.

Does anyone have a link to a guide to prime fishing spots?

Shoot since I fish primarily to feed my pet, I have mostly done it in OGR waiting for the next BG to start. I have been leveling the whole time (190 something now). So really the only thing I worry about now is catching something at my pets lvl and/or something I can cook for exp.

True!

If skill points are all you are looking for, you can take your fishing skill all the way to 300 in your newbie area if you so choose. What drives people to fish in higher level waters are the fish themselves. While you can get to 300 fishing in the newbie area all you will ever fish up are low level fish. If you want to use fish to advance your cooking or to feed your pet or to use for hit point regeneration as you level, you’ll need to fish in higher level waters that will allow you to pull up higher level fish.

Your best chance to gain skill points is to fish in water where you never get the message that your fish got away. As long as you can pull up fish then you can gain fishing skill. But the more fish that get away the more opportunities you miss at getting a skill point. You can boost your fishing skill by using different types of lures, all the way up to +100 to your fishing skill. But these cost money to buy, unless you just happened to have saved up a bunch of worms looted off of undead. Still, its an option.

False!

Your character’s stats have NOTHING AT ALL to do with gaining skill points in any profession. This is WoW not EQ. And if I ever meet the developers who made that decision I’ll happily bow down before them and kiss their feet.

I agree... I was at lvl 150 fishing plus my bonues and i had to use a nightcrawler to fish there successfully... and now, i am at 180 fishing... i went back to auberdine to get a lower lvl fishing quest and from what i hear, i could get to 200 with it... But then again, I might have just been taking my time with the fish in BB

Fishing is a great way to pass the time. I usually get a good bit of fishing in while waiting for res sicknes to wear off.

My druid is the only one of my chars that has fishing and I have noticed my skill improves faster when I'm marked than not so I deffinitely agree with getting an intellect buff to fish whenever possible.

My fishing spot of choice is Wailing Caverns. Mostly because Deviate Fish (cooked or not) seel for a good amount and are just plain fun to use. I got a ninja costume last time I ate one :)

Plus I usually mail off excess I cook to my warrior and hunter characters.

I leveled all the way up to 300fishing and what i found is that it doesn't matter where you fish. I hit 300 fishing at the lake in org. Its just a matter of time and successful catches and has nothing to do with the zone level as far as i can tell. I know alot of horde level to 300 fishing at the org lake as a way to burn time while waiting to get into BGs.

Dude, you are wrong. If you mouse-over the intellect skill, it says it applies to skill training!

Weapon Skills, not professions. Or else no one would be a blacksmith unless they a mage in full netherwind.

from what i have read you can fish anywhere and get a skill up as long as you meet the minimum requirements to fish there. I have not tested this as i try to fish where i can get the good fish. Why would i fish in say, Stormwind and get lame fish when i can fish at menthil harbor and get oily blackmouth and firefin to sell or use?

Fish where you can without getting any "fish got away messages". If your getting more than say 1 to 2 in 10 everytime you cast either move to a lower area or use items to increase your skill.

If you are not in pvp world, then fish in zones that will give you items that you can either use in tradeskills or sell to others that can. You can still do that in pvp worlds, you just have to find a more hidden spot to do it from

May I ask when did this happen exactly? Cause I know for a fact that getting skill ups after the recent patch was pretty rare, but things seem to be normal now. I was fishing in Tanaris after the patch and didn't get one skill up after pulling about 30 fish or more. next time I fished skill ups were normal again.

OK, so where/how do you get your fishing up over 150? I bought the book from BB and maxed my fishing out to 150 (think that's right) and now I don't know where to go to get it above that. Where I need to train next does it matter whether I'm Horde or Alliance?

The guide to fishing here:

http://wow.allakhazam.com/db/guides.html?guide=389

Is a good reference. My understanding is that the book from booty bay will get you up to 225, and you have to be that level to get the quest for training to 300. The quest is available from Nat Pagle in Dustwallow Marsh - he's on one of the islands just west of Theramore Island

(edited for spelling)

ummm.... Did you read the book? (right-clicking will give you the skill, if you are level 20+)

Reading the book will give you a max skill of 225. After you get to 225, you'll have to get to level 35 before you can up the skill again. You do that by getting a quest from Nat Pagle (on an Island off Theramore in Dustwallow Marsh) and completing it.

The above stated is correct...

By the book from Old Man Heming in Booty Bay for 1 Gold piece. LEft click the book in your inventory and your skill will increase.

To get Artisan level, you do need the quest from Nat Pagle. And you need to see a trainer to get the quest to go and talk to Nat Pagle. I don't think you can just walk up and start the quest without the Journeyman Trainer telling you to do so.

btw if your just to lazy to run to booty bay or just dont want to take the time, check the AH for the fishing book. People will often buy a few extra copies and sell them on the ah for a slight profit.
