Hey everyone! Im a lvl 14 mage gnome and I need help with my profesions. Right now I have skinning at 108 and minning in the 50's. Is there a better combination for making money at my lvl or should I stay with these for now? As a gnome, should I make use of my enginering? Thanx in advance for any help.

That is a pretty good combo if you are only trying to make money, the only other thing I may suggest, is changing mining for herbing, a bit easier to level up imho, specially in the lower level area's. But the way you set now, you have the potential to be a money machine, especially at the lower levels. Enchanting keeps you poor too long, so do not let anyone talk you into that.

I have all the same as you except i have leather working in place of mining...skinning and leather working just seem to go hand-in-hand. I would definetly change to leather working. Much more beneficial.

why leatherworking? assuming he plays a class that uses leather, he will most likely be able to buy whatever he needs before he could craft it anyways. two gather professions will make him much more money.

Enchanters are making a LOT of money. They just sit at the AH bridge and rip people off.

I myself am trying out mining and skinning but was wondering if herbalism would be more profitable than skinning. What would be more in demand really I mean herbs or skins.

Leather is useless to a cloth wearer. L/W only goes hand in hand with skinning if you want to craft items.

I recently gave up leatherworking (lvl 290) in exchange for mining to make money. I no longer wear leather and dragonscale stuff is useless to a hunter.

Last week I had about 80g, about 3 days later I have nearly 250g (although I did do a couple of instance runs).

This is mainly from selling rugged leather and green/blue drops I got in the process.

Herbalism/Mining is the biggest money duo I've found. The only problem with it is that you can only have one of them at a time on the minimap. I have a Rogue with this setup and usually have him set on herbs because the ore deposits tend to be easier to see and find.

Skinning is dependable, easy and steady money, requiring little to no going out of the way from your quests for gathering, so it's a good choice as well.

Enchanting can be a moneymaker, but it's more disenchanting than enchanting as far as I can tell. It can be used like a gathering profession to turn all of those BoA and BoP items you get while questing and instance runs into raw enchanting materials. That can mean big money whether you sell the mats or sell enchantments.

All of the other professions will tend to cost more than they bring in, with some few high level exceptions. For the most part, raw materials will sell faster and higher than the finished product.

All of that said, I personally think engineering is the most fun and useful profession, by far. I don't really recommend it for someone's first character though. It can be pretty costly to keep it leveled up and it's at it's most useful when you can afford to powerlevel it as soon as you bust the level caps. A level 20 character with a big bag full of Solid Dynamite can be quite a monster. ^^
