Hello. I currently got my fishing level to 300, and I have been fishing mostly as a way to make money. So far, when I want to make some extra gold, I can fish up Deviate Fish and have a friend of mine cook them for me for free. Deviate Delights sell for about 4.5g/stack on my sever currently, although it used to be around 6.5. His current skill level in cooking is 165. I also can go to BB and fish up Oily Blackmouth and Firefin Snappers. Oily Blackmouth sells for about 12g/stack buyout. Firefins go for about 6-ishg/stack.

The reason I'm posting here is this: I am currently lvl 50, and in 10 levels i'm going to need to buy a lot of very nice armor (I'm looking at the Elements set although I'm more than willing to take suggestions). Not to mention the fact that I want an epic mount at some point as well. I was wondering if anybody on the forums with post 300 fishing for gold experience has any new ideas or suggestions for how I could make money with my fishing skill. This isn't another "how can I make gold?" thread, I would just like to be pointed in the right direction if there is some fishing goldmine I have yet to discover.

For reference, I currently use Nat Pagle's Extreme Angler FC6000 as my pole, and I have been stockpiling the +100 lures for the fishing contest :p.

Any advice or insight would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Sadly, the only other money fish I know of is Stonescale Eel and there's far faster ways of making gold than that. I can catch Plated Armorfish and Lightning Eel in the 300+ areas like Winterspring, but those aren't worth anything yet. Blizzard has not yet introduced the recipes involving them into the game, and they may not be worth much even then.

Fishing just isn't a big moneymaker. Sad but true. You probably make more on your deviates than you can on any other fish.

Thanks for your reply.

Yeah, I tried to catch a stack of Stonescale Eel, but the catches were so few and far between that it wasn't worth the time it took, even though the stacks sold considerably well on the AH. I'd catch one every 10 minutes, with no fish of worth in between.

But anyway, I pretty much figured what you said, and I can't say I'm surprised. Too bad, though. Perhaps in some upcoming patches Blizzard will cater to the fisher-people more. We can only hope :p

would be nice if we catch real bottles with treasure maps that we can go find..now that would cause a boom in the number of fishers.

on my server the oilies and firefins aren't near as profitable as yours, but the deviates continue to be the most profitable fish too, considering how fast you can catch them and what they are produced into.

I have found that selling Savory Deviates makes far more money selling them individually. On my server "Boulderfist" I sell them for 70s - 80s a piece.

This strategy used to work like crazy before the 1.6 patch since people would buy some trying to get ninja or pirate and wouldn't get it after eating 2 so they would see the single deviates and buy just one more in hopes of getting ninja or pirate. They would keep doing this untill they got ninja or priate.

Now a days people only need to eat one to get ninja or pirate so they usually only end up buying 1 maybe 2 to get what they want so sales are not as great. But still if your patient you can make alot more money selling them individually, it just takes time.

One other possible money maker is catching fish that restore +5 mana every x seconds. I don't remember the name but some people seem to think these are worth paying a few Gold for like 10. I don't remember the name of the fish or recipie so you will have to do some searching.

The name of the fish if Nightfins Snapper, and the recipie to cook them is nightfin soup. These are my favorites other than stonescales (I am an alchemist, I don't sell em)
