Okay, my Blacksmithing is now Lv218 and I went down to Booty Bay and talked to the goblin there and plunked down 5g to raise my Blacksmithing Cap all the way up to 300.

Now, I am sitting here with Lv218 and I scroll down through my list of things I know how to make. I have learned every recipe the NPCs will teach me, and I have learned how to make Shadow Crescent Axe and Frost Tiger Blade.

The problem is, I don't know what to skill up on next. Golden Scale Gauntlets used to be a great Skillup, easy to make, not a huge load of ore used in every crafting. But now that it is Yellow, and the fact that Coal is not cheap, I have to look at Orange recpies now. Black Crescent Axe, Frost Tiger Blade, Mithril Scale Pants. I think there may be one more that's a weapon or something, but requires a Lot of materials to make and isn't all that popular nor impressive stat-wise, so I doubt it would sell well on the AH.

Mithril Scale Pants are easy to make in the fact that there are only two ingredients, but the killer is, that one needs 12 mithril bars -per- crafting. I need at least 12 levels on this. That's 144 Mithril Bars. Ouch.

Are there any recipes I'm missing? That are Orange, but yet cheaper/simpler than this? I hope so...

I have just gained the ability to mine Truesilver, but I don't think I am capable of smelting it yet...strange though, none of the NPCs are offering me Blacksmithing recipies that include Truesilver...

These are my choices on the subject:
Mithril Spurs (random drop recipe - 215 skill, I think)
and after 250
Dense Grinding Stone and others :)
Happy gaming.

I checked, Mithril Spurs is a Lv230 recipe. Lol.

Though, I noticed that Moonsteel Broadswords... I need 2 of them for my Weaponsmith Quest, and 1 for Jarl....that's 3 levels right there. Now to just find the stupid plans, lol.

Now you understand. Instead of grinding levels you should be looking into the future and making the items you need for the various upcoming blacksmithing quests. I had to grind a few points but I got the majority from making items I would soon need to turn it. You're still gonna have to farm a lot of ore though.

The advantage of the mithril spurs is that it only requires 4 mithril bars! though the recipe was pricey on lightbrinnger I found that it was worth the money in saved rezources.
Doing the items that you will need for upcomig quests is great! But won't engender massive skill ups.
All of my Alts now proudly have mithril spurs :)
Someday I hope to get them high enough for mounts :)
