Hey Guys-

I doubt this has ever been put on this site, and the servers are down so I'm bored, so Im gonna post a guide to what I did to get my mount at 40, since I know how worried I was until I found it.

This Guide only applies to Leatherworking skinners, around mount lvl on non-PVP servers.. I know I'm narrowing it way down but hey, we are the coolest! ^^

Ok in Dusthallow Marsh, just SE of the barrens, in the very NE corner of the zone, along the coast (called Dreadmurk Shore) there are some turtles (in the water) and murlocs (on the small islands). Turtles are called Mudrock Tortoises, Murlocs called Mirefins. The turtles skin to turtle scales, the murlocs drop murloc scales. In addition there are chests all over the Murlocs' islands. You can solo this whole area (killing till your pack is totally full) in about 2hrs or so. Also, just north of the area, within walking distance, is Ratchet (and Ratchet has a bank).

You probably see where this is going. I would run to the area from Brackenwall Village (alliance comes from Theramore Isle), kill & skin every Murloc and Turtle I saw. Fill my inventory and drop all the crap. Equipment, leather and scales, and random chest stuff are good, but drop just about everything else. I would get many full stacks of everything and run to Ratchet. Sell anything not needed, drop the rest in the bank and run back down to the area. After clearing it out and collecting all I could I would run back to Brackenwall Village. Then fly to Org to Auction all the stuff I got and made.

I would get gold selling vendor trash, lvl up my LW (somewhere around 180-225) and make money from the Turtle Helms (5g or so apiece) and many others you will be making, plus all the equipment and other generic stuff that drop.

Before I did this run at mid-38, I had about 25 gold and couldn't imagine how I would ever get enough money for my mount by 40. It only took me about 4 runs to work up to 115 gold, over about 3 days. By the time I got the cash I was lvl 40, ready to choose main pursuit in LW, and even had cash left over (especially with discount for honored status in your city).

Let me know if anyone uses this, or I am just too bored ^^. I just wanted to share this with everyone since I have told a lot of people in-game how I got cash for my mount at 40, thought yall could use it.

Yeah, the main reason it was so good for me was because I was lower lvl skinning so I got the skillups from what I created.

You could try the Steamweedle port in Tanaris, they have higher lvl turtles that would drop more scales, also the Scorpids are excellent for making scorpid stuff for skillups and sale, but you wouldn't make as much cash from found items, from merlocs and chests.

I got a bunch of skill ups for leatherworking at this though, since I was lower lvl. Had to kill so many mobs I got plenty of leather as well.

Glad to know someone got some help from my post. Axilius, let me know on the server if it helped. ^^

This is how you make lots of money with leatherworking:

1) forget you have leatherworking.

2) skin lots of stuff.

3) sell the skins.

It is cool if you can make money off of the leatherworking too, though ;)

Tanaris added a lot of turtles, so they do have many now. They are south of steamwheedle a ways.

For lower level turtles, the far west coast north of hilsbarad/southshore is good. There are a ton there along that coast. I guess that zone is actually Alterac? Its the far western shore green grass/water part. The nice thing is, even though lower these turtles still have the gray "vendor junk" scales(As a drop, not something you skin) which sell for 45 SILVER per stack of five!!!! This is a nice bonus, and these turtles are just as likely to have them as level 54 turtles.
The "tails" are worth much less, so I just trash them to save room.

The tanaris turtles should take you up until you can farm the ones on the far east shore of hinterlands. Those will take you up until you can farm the ones on the far northeast shore of aszhara(sp?) I like the azshara ones since they go up to level 54 AND have crabmen and murlocs around them, so there is more variety. The hinterlands and Azshara varieties have the shells which can drop golden pearls, not sure if ones as low as tanaris can.

My 60 hunter, who does skinning and herbalism, just bought herself an 800 gold mount mostly from skinning turtles and such/selling herbs she picked up along the way. Now she is working on my second 800 gold mount, for my 60 priest ;) In a few days, she is up to 100 gold again (this is when I'm not working my 40 hour a week job, in the few hours I have to play.)

Im a lev 34 tauren shami and i have over 200g right now. I made it all from selling barbaric bracers. They sell like MAD on my server and they sell for 7.5-8g on it and are fairlly ez to make......8x heavy leather 2x cured heavy hide 4 small lustrius pearls 1x raptor hide and 4x large fang. If u buy the suplies its like 2.5g so u still make a decent profit. You can buy the plans for it in UC. Hope this helps

I tried your method worked or me although I kinda went east then north and ran into some dragonspawn looking guys that came very close to pwning me lol thank you for pet distraction and aspect of the cheetah. But now I'm about 8g short and last night I realized I had enough shadowcat hide in bank to make shadowskin gloves so I go to the AH and buyout the black pearls and then I remember....no heavy hide....check the AH not a single heavy hide or cured heavy hide I was just like....wtf ***** this I'll check tomorrow I'm gettin on my priest.
