Breaking Engineering itemsFollow

#1 Aug 24 2005 at 12:26 PM Rating: Decent
I have Gnomish engineering and have a couple Goblin additions that others have made me. I have YET to have anything break. How often have you seen things break, and what tends to become unusable. I don't mean backfire or screwup. I mean break and no longer function.

I have Goblin Rocket Helm and Rocket boots.

Now, my question really tends to be about how often these things break so that I have to have them remade.

Anyone have any insight?

They never really "break". They occasionally blow up, causing you damage, but you don't lose the item. For instance, I had the Goblin Mortar explode for 5200 damage when I tried to reload it once. Embarassing calling for a res in the middle of Ironforge, but funny as hell. Other trinkets do different things.. my Goblin Dragon Gun for instance, sets me on fire to the tune of about 100 damage per tick for about 10 ticks. Its half the fun of being an Engineer. Can't wait to see what happens when my "Dimensional Ripper: Winterspring" malfunctions.

Goblin Rocket boots blew up 3rd time I used them, I got some of the components back but never made another pair.

Goblin rocket boots do blowup but not that regularly. I used them for an entire weekend spent in warsong and they only once blew up. Unfortunately I was exiting the horde base with the flag when they chose to explode.

If your going to use them you get most of the parts back when they explode, less like one item. If you like this item and use it id keep a couple of spare sets of mageweave boots in your bank(tailor created) encase thats the part that's missing when it blows.

The only real trouble the Ultrasafe will give you is sometimes it has a bad habit of transporting you really high in the air...just use your parachute cloak to negate it and you should be fine.

Yeah haven't made those either but I'm getting safe fall soon and I'm gonna make a parachute cloak

gnomish rocket boots sell for 10g on my server...i dont know why if they break so often. i only used mine 3x before it broke. no real damage to me, that would have been preferred over the item becoming useless mageweave boots again.

i wont be buying them again. on the contrary, swift potions are much easier to make and use and at least you know that once you use it, it's gone. not to mention you can wear your normal foot gear with these potions in use.

i saw the malfunction of a teleporter once..this rogue died in winterspring. it was pretty funny. so while that definitely sounds like a good way to get around, at least be prepared to die now and then.

Only the goblin boots will break. Gnomish ones are safer, have less chance of anything at all going wrong, but they have a 30 minute cooldown.

Second time I used my transporter to get to Everlook I got a fire debuff for a couple of hundred damage per tick, enough to kill me if I hadn't been well prepared with a healthstone.

goblins blow stuff up/light crap on fire gnomes ...well just straight up kill you ...on a special note never use a deathray in a duel if you have less than 2k life. ..
