Some Hunters say it's worthless and others swear by it. Personally, I think it's good armor, but I did not choose to do dragonscale with my Hunter. Farming the mats can be tiresome and buying them is pretty much as costly (or more costly) than just buying the finished item. I chose to wait until I level up my Rogue and Druid alts before I choose a specialty.

Dragonscale is certainly not a bad way to go for Hunter, especially if you plan on staying with the Hunter and not doing alot of altism (Rogue or Druid) stuff. It's even better if you are Horde and want to level up a Shaman alt. IMO, Dragonscale is far better suited to Shaman than Hunter.

The Dragonscale quest is in Azshara (he's kind of south of the center of the zone standing by a tent) and you should be able to get it at 44 with 200+ leatherworking as far as I know.

I hate Leatherworking for a hunter. To put it plainly? LW on a Hunter BLOWS ***. The gear is directed towards Druids and Shammy's, and doesn't do THAT great for Hunters. I've seen drops etc, of the same level, that crush what LW can make (compared to hunter usefullness, stats etc).

Worst of all, I hate eng/mi on hunts as well (guns can die, so can the random stuff it makes).

So that leaves what for a good hunt prof? Not much. Sk/Mi for money i guess. Would've been nice if there was a...oh I don't know...a prof to MAKE BOWS FOR A BOW CLASS BLIZZ! WTFBBQ!!!!

Dragonscale LW needs to be buffed a bit for hunters IMHO; however, that being said, the black dragonscale items aren't that bad as "fillers" until you get your set stuff or whatever. I've got a heck of a lot of use out of my BDS shoulders and chest pieces. I've had them from whatever level you're able to equip them (I believe 53 and 55) and still have been using them for about 3 weeks at lvl 60. Sure, I'd love the BS tunic, however it's not the easiest thing to get (and yes I've run UBRS plenty of times). As far as the shoulders, they are definitely among the best non epic's for a hutner in the game based strictly on ranged dammage. Of the ones I know about, they are also the easiest to get.

I'll say it once, and I'll say it again, it doesn't matter what branch of LW you go into b/c if you're a skinner you can still gather all the mats you need to make anything from any branch. Then all you do is ask in trade in IF/Org for 5 freggin minutes and someone makes it for you for a small tip.
