Enchanting worth it to pick up at lvl50?Follow

Right now I have tailoring (250) and skinning (298). In the past, skinning has always made a fair amount money, but now I'm starting to see that just selling enchanting reagents pulls in a good amount of money as well (on my server, for example, a lesser eternal essence will sell for 3g). I get plenty of garbage greens and blue bops (that no one wants), that I just end up selling to venders. I know that enchanting can be somewhat of a money pit in the beginning, but if i do it primarily to sell reagents for a while, would it be a viable replacement for skinning?

Thanks for your input.

If you aren't interested in skilling it up to actually do enchants, then you can make a ton of money. You can disenchant from the start, and get skillups until 60. Your skill does not matter when it comes to disenchanting an item. Pick up the Enchantrix mod, it's quite helpful.

I dropped Mining (300) for it, and never looked back. (also a tailor). If you're not interested in going out and spending hours specifically farming mines (let's face it, who is?) then (dis)Enchanting earns you way more gold.

Enchanting/Skinning is the best combination of professions for earning gold in the course of play.

(Mining/Skinning is far superior if you're prepared to spend time making money and nothing else, but Enchanting/Skinning gives you the most cash if you're just questing along.

Trouble with mining is that on high pop servers the best mining spots are camped 24/7 by farmers. You can make about 20-30G/hour without too much stress just mining Thorium (even with the farmers there), but you can make way in excess of that soloing SM with enchanting (esp. if you're a rogue/druid), and the farmers don't interfere your gathering that way. As an added bonus I find grinding through SM solo way more fun than racing farmers to mining nodes.

Also the % of enchanters (and therefor the demand for reagents) is much higher on high-pop servers where people are playing alts.
