What do you mean you can't fish? Do you not have your pole equipped, or are your fish getting away? If fish are getting away try using a fishing lure that you can buy from any fishing vendor.

I bet u making same mistake i did... what u need to do (i think) is to open up your spell book, find the fishing skill and drag it onto your quickbar... then stand infront of the water close up and click that! you don't 'use' the fishing rod, you just have to have that equipped

Use an aquadynamic fish attractor once you're high enough level. You can usually buy them in the AH for fairly cheap. Or, if you're an engineer, make them yourself. Of course the best ones say "Made by Flintcutter", but they're very rare and can only be found on a specific server....
