I'm sure this has probably been discussed elsewhere but my forum search appears to have issues.

So I just started a new Hordey 'lock and as I'm sure you gathered from the title I'm wondering what trade skill path to pursue. Any advice would be greatly appreiciated, Thanks.

I would have to say enchanting and tailoring, if you wish to be poor (in the beginning atleast. Enchanting could be very fruitfull eventually).

If you want to go for the money, I say mining and skinning. You can then sell all the leather, ore, gems, and linen/wool/runecloth/etcetera on the AH. Should be getting you some gold in no time.

My warlock does alchemy (mainly because my group of friends didn't have an alchemist in it...)

I have to say that I love it and use the healing potions with the occasional stat buff potion. I'm going to have to go herb farming soon though as my bank is filling up with herbs that are 1/2 of recipes that I don't have the other component for :-)

If you just want money though, go two gathering. My little mage alt has skinning and herbalism. That character has almost a gold already from selling stuff in AH (and maybe 2 gold if my auctions sold yesterday....i didn't check yet). My normal hunting has paid for the mage's spells. The gathering stuff is paying for my horse eventually ....in 30 levels :-)

I agree with the last two posters: either Tailoring for bags/armor/end-game BoP Robe of the Void, or a consumable profession: alchemy or engineering.

Alchemy will allow you to boost stats. Engineering will give you neat tricks and extra attacking ability.

wow thanks for the advice, both enchanting and alchemy, sound interesting. guess I'll flip a coin, or perhaps both, and I'll buy my reagents.

Thanks again

Then again, you could always take up 2 gathering professions, and then when you get to around level 40, drop one and pickup an crafting profession. Then later on, drop the other gathering, and pick up another profession. By then, you will have the money to buy everything you need, so you will not have to go and find the stuff yourself.

I have seen this strategy posted several times, and it makes me wish that I had tried this with my level 30, almost broke, druid.

I took skinning and tailoring. For many tailored items, you need leather as well. Also, I can sell the leather for money. With the tailoring, I get to wear the items only available to tailors and it helps to make bags for those darn shards that won't stack! Enchanting is another common combo with tailoring, but I found it is easier to just setup an alt with that skill ... of course, I also setup an alt with leatherworking to use all the leather my warlock gets from skinning ... but that kind of goes beyond your initial question.

Tailoring/enchanting is a good combination.

I experienced that the game is smoother if you choose alchemy/herbalism at the beginning, cuz' a warlock can't heal itself too good.Few good potions can save lifes often and you can make good money with herbalism later on.
