Heard of a story where a guy bought X rare item from the AH, sold it thinking it was X random VT. Got ahold of a GM and told his story, asking if there is any way it could be given back as it was a mistake, and if Blizz checks their database for his char they'll see the obvious mistake.

A week later he has his X rare item back and no worries.

Now your story sounds a lil fishy, but you can try asking a GM. They may say in your case "Meh. Dumbass. Tough. Deal with it.", OR they may say "Hey np. We'll see what we can do.

GL for sure.

I would suggest downloading auctioneer and getting to work to be honest.

I have over 100 gold at 38 and I made 20 of it by using auctioneer to find high level blue items on sale or about to expire for low buyouts/bids. I buy it or bid on it and then resell them for a profit (and I resell them at low prices also). I bought a doombringer last night for 10 gold (there were 4 auctions all with buyouts of 40 or 50 gold)by bidding when it had a short timer. I resold it 45 minutes later for 20 gold. Did the same with a bow. Bought it out for 7 gold, put it back on AH for 15 gold. The other ones on AH had 20 gold buyouts..

in the meantime sell your tradeskill goods and farm stuff that sells for decent silver to vendors.

What is this "auctioneer" and where do you download it? I'm a level 22 Tauren Druid with about 25 gold... I have dreams of being rich!

100 gold as lvl 38 WOW !!!

Im preety stuck, i cant seem to make any money. I am lvl 38, I have mining lvl 241 and Blacksmithing lvl 220. I am on DarkSorrow, a fairly low-populated server, and nothing - NOTHING i can make in BlackSmithing sells at all. I have also tried to sell the Mining ore, and yes they sell, but not far enough profit for it to be good. 20 copper bars sells for 60 silver, and 20 Iron bars sells for a litte over 1 gold.

I have 7 gold now, as lvl 38 and the Mount seem pretty far away, i cant find any good way of making money - other than mining 24x7 for the next week days, and sell that form money. But that seem like a looser-solution to me. Any other blacksmisths who has the same difficulty in selling their creations. ?

in general crafted items don't sell for a profit.

the best way to make money is to farm materials and sell them.

The prices you quoted for metal are actually quite good. On my server copper regularly sells for only 30s.

Go to the Charred Vale in stonetalon mountains and mine Mithril. It sells for 3-5g per 20.

To make the money for my mount (at around level 33) I sold limited supply items that I bought from vendors for 18s and sold on the AH for 5g. To be honest, this isn't really a nice thing to do, but if you're stupid enough to buy that kind of stuff more power to you. I don't do it anymore, but it was the week before finals and I didn't have time to actually "play" the game. So when the patch came out that added the schematic for blue fireworks I simply camped the vendor in IF that sold them, then ran to the AH and put it up for 4-6g. Sold atleast a dozen like that as fast as I could buy them on the first day, and about 6 more the second. I made about 150g w/o leaving IF in those 2 days. Bought a mount and a truesilver champion for when I hit 47. Also bought some cheap green mail armor for when I hit 40... loaned some guildies some money for their mounts... etc...

Needless to say, now that I'm at 60, I still haven't seen any money come that easy.

My suggestions for making mount money: Don't craft anything for this time --> sell all the raw mats you get. Unless you're a skinner, farm humanoids for money and cloth drops. Find mobs that you can chain kill with the least amount of down time. Ideal mobs are spread far enough apart that you don't have to worry about agroing more than one at a time and are on a fariy rapid spawn timer. They also are fairly close to an area with a mailbox so you can make frequent runs to the mailbox and send your alt (who you've cleverly created and moved to IF/Org) all the good stuff you've picked up. You then simply log that alt daily and put up all the cloth/items for auction. You keep the money on this alt and then send it to your main when it's time to buy the mount. This keeps you from spending it...

Instance runs. Get some friends, get some strangers, and plow through an instance where stuff is not going to wipe you out. Scarlet Monastery is good cash, if you can hit it up with a few non-leeroy people. The vendor trash from the graveyard is good, and the crusaders outside (30 elites) drop cash and silk, with the occaisional green. For the 50 hunter, farm SM or hit up Zul'Farrak. the trolls drop mageweave and silk, plus the cash. Also, try the ogres in south/central tanaris. They are loaded, easy to pick off, and have fun treasure chests nearby.

I'm still having trouble imagining not knowing how to make cash at level 50, but I got a lot of help from my guildies, so I might just have been lucky.

I too am on a lower population server. I'm 36th level mage with mining and engineering. This is not bragging in the least but I have 140g.

My story:
I found a route for mining copper and occasionally iron, silver, and gold. Now this route takes me about 1.5 hours and I end up with about 4 stacks of copper, 8 iron bars, 3 silver bars and occasionally 3 gold bars and good XP.
The key to making money from this run is to watch when the AH is low on the bars.
Try to sell the copper immediately and wait until you have complete stacks of the other ores to sell.
I always try to find out when the AH is low on the items and then put them up for about 5s less.
If the copper is running 85s at BO I'm a bit shy on putting them up but if they are running 95s+ I put them up.

Now along with mining these veins you will get by-products like gems and stone.
The gems I stack in the bank and when I’m in IF I pay attention to the trade channel for people asking for gems. I sell at reasonable prices and usually 5-10s below AH.
As for the stone I grind em up and put them on the AH as powders. These do very well.

I only occasionally make money on my Engineering.

Aerdire

PS I also get 1-2 stacks of Tin, Tin only sells OK on my realm. Usually about 50-70s.

Checking back in a bit later. Auctioneer SUCKS. It takes up so much space on the interface, it's hard to see anything else. It's got small problems like switching up numbers, buy/sell prices, etc. and doesn't even have correct pricing most of the time.

I have about 105g now at level 29. I have made most of it through sales of Savory Deviate Delights, Savory Deviate Delight Recipes, and Bags. The Delights I make myself, and the Recipes I usually buy low and sell high (found 1 at 1g, immediately re-sold for 17g.)

I just sell all my unusable loot, and I'll usually net an OK amount of money from that too. Just keep your options open, and keep an eye out for good prices and low bid times.

Dude as a 50 hunter you should have NO problem getting cash. I'm not trying to brag in the least I assure you, but at 35 all but one piece of equipment is a really good blue and I have just under 200G spare. INSTANCES!!!! run them often. Gnomeregan with a good group nets me 10-15G per run. No exp (or very little) but you have to trade one for the other I guess. At your level you can solo it easily. I've been soloing BFD since 30 and the cash has skyrocketed. not as much as a group on gnomer but still good if I can;t find a good group.

INSTANCES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

*end rant*

BTW I'm lucky to play 10 hrs a week. You can do it man i promise.

first off.. the lord is not going to help you on this one.. he does not play wow.. and he hates you to boot.

second.. you got what you deserved for not paying attention when you bought the shards.

third.. there is no third.

The way to *keep* money is to not buy ANYTHING off the AH :P So far the most I've bought are 5 recipies and a total of 6 bags.
How the HELL do you end up with only a few gold? Even if you bought the shards for 12g total and sold them for 3, you should still have around 50g by this point. Hell, I chose the worst possible proffessions for money-making... tailoring and enchanting (all I've sold are a few bags and the occassional enchant). I still had 70g by the time I hit 40, and have made another 18 or so since (level 42). If you've that little cash, I would suspect you buy lots of stuff... by only the occassional recipe, maybe a few bags, and repair your stuff... get stuff from guildies (I've gotten a good 20-40g in stuff from my guild; 13 stacks of silk, codex of prayer of fortitude, a few items from a guild officer who's a tailor, etc).

As other people said, run instances. Running SM Library six times in a row (for the staff) I netted probably 10 gold, and would have gotten probably 4 times that alone instead of running it as a full group.
If you've got enchanting, disenchant items and sell the DE's... off the typical 50s item I get 70s-1g50s in DE's, and the occassional pair of lesser nether or a small radiant that'll net 3g each.

Yes, I think we all got that. But I've gotten well over 25 gold from level 41-43 just by selling vendor trash (and I'm not even selling anything I can disenchant). Seriously, pick up ANY items that drop... I've had soo many people I group with leave them and, at the end of 2 hours of questing (not grinding for cash or anything--just casual, slow-pace questing), I'll get a minumum 5 gold off the grey and white vendor trash, about 3 more gold from the quests I just turned in, and probably the potential for another 5+ gold from the greens I picked up.
Seriously, I don't know what the problem is.

There's about a million ways to make money in this game and you can't manage to scrape up more than 1g at level 50? I'm lvl 52 and here's what I'm doing right now. I play with another 52 and we are farming ZF. We just go in and clear everything. She's an enchanter, so basically she gets all green/blue drops, and I get everything else. A 2 hour run easily gets us each 20g or more, which is probably a pretty average rate of farming money.

I just find it hard to believe that a 50 is having this tough a time making money....
