As of late, I'm having trouble with the AH. I've got decent green drops: maces, swords, shields, armor, that require level 32 and up... one is even some plate armor that can't be worn until level 50 (I think), but none of them sell. I'm not asking more than the items are worth, unlike some who try to sale a level 30 green item for 20 gold (I've seen it attempted before). Do most of you people get your items to sale on the first try, or does it normally take a few tries?
I htink I might see a potential problem for you. At this level, people start running instances with good drops. Gnomeregan, for example, will drop a good dagger and cloth boots (at level 44, I still have my cloth boots that require level 27). Then you get to SM... well, the Aegis of the Scarlet Commander will be on every tank's wishlist, so shields won't sell well until you get into the mid-40s or higher.
There are good quest rewards around this level from instances (Serenity Sword and Bonebiter, I believe are from the SM quest), so one-handed swords and two-handed weapons (where axes are more commonly used than maces) will be tough to sell as well.
Plate armor should actually sell pretty well, as at level 40, Warriors and Paladins want to scramble to get it. However, only plate armor of "good" types sell well: Bear, Tiger, and Eagle (Which I believe is Stamina/Int; it's what a good non-Retribution Paladin should wear). Other than that, plate armor may be difficult to sell.
