ok, so i do a search for pound, and discover that there are 103 pound mightfish and 92 pound might fish, but no place of where they are caught.

so i back track and find that the 85 pound mightfish was caught in the bay of storms. So i head on over there.

i'm 300 fishing with a +20 fishing, fishing pole. i finaly find the area that says bay of storms. I equip my rod and cast. Low and behold, what happens? "SKILL NOT HIGH ENOUGH". I was shocked. So i hearth back to Iron Forge, get a guildie to make me some aquadynamic fish attractors (+100 fishing lures), trek my butt back out to bay of storms and start fishing.

after about 10 minutes, i have 5 fish in a row "fish got away", i'm like WTF. 300 fishing, +20 fishing pole, +100 lures, thats 420 fishing, and they getting away?!!!!

Well, i'm off to Iron Forge now to get the +5 fishing glove enchant. I will be soo disapointed if the fish still get away. 425 fishing is the highest an alliance player can get. It would be soooo unfair if only horde can catch those fish, after all, they have a +25 fishing pole available to them.

Unfortunaly even with the extra +5 fishing, you will see a lot of fish get away even completly maxed out, The are the hardest places in the game to fish, they want it to be verry hard, i got 3 out of 18 fish, the rest got away,my Horde alt with 430 did just a little better, 3 out of 17. The key is to accapt they will get away most of the time, it is the end of fishing, not intended to be eazy at all.

there are gloves you can get that add +5 and there is supposed to be some hat that was in the game but has been taken out, some bug or something but has yet to make it back in
that might make up the difference

and deadwind pass requires the same skill

I had a similar experience when I went to the Sea of Storms to fish up lobster. As far as I can tell that’s the only place to fish them up. But I only had +50 lures on me. So 3 out of 4 fish got away. I still managed to get a stack of lobster before I left. I’m nothing if not stubborn.

If I remember correctly, the only fishing enchant we can get is +2 to gloves. It can’t hurt but I doubt it will make much of a difference. The only other item I know of that adds fishing skill, besides the fishing poles and lures, is the Lucky Fishing Hat that had +5 to fishing. But though Blizzard has stated they took it out by mistake I’ve yet to see it added back into the game.
