But I've dropped so much gold into it that I'm really hesitant to do so. I've had enchanting sitting at 288 for a long time. I decided to attempt to get back into it. Got me a bunch of mats sat in IF feeling like I'm spamming the trade channel attempting to sell my wares. 2 hours later I had a whole 2 chants done.

This is boring as can be, and obviously not for me. I cannot enchant my alts stuff, and I don't like sitting there in IF trying to get people to buy enchants, so why keep it? Other than the horrid amount of gold it took to get it that high.

All the higher level formulas cost an arm and a leg. It just doesn't seem worth it to me.

My other prof is tailoring...which is also boring now that it's at 300 and there really isn't anything else to make me. At least I can make stuff for an alt caster though, not completely useless.

Should I stick it out...or drop it..what's the community opinion :-)

sounds to me like you are NOT in a guild.

Drop it, so what if ya spent your whole WOW careeer trying to get it to 288. If ya dont like it, drop it. Just dont expect any other profession to be easier or more profitable.

You can make so much money with enchanting, selling regents is a great income. I only enchant friends and guildies and have managed to get to about 290 now without trying. It does cost alot for the formulas, but you will soon make the money back once you get them. The regents are also very expensive, unless you are in a guild who help you hunt for them. To sum it up, if gold is your goal then don't do it.

If you’re sure, and I mean really sure, that you don’t enjoy enchanting then dropping it is the only sensible thing to do. But make absolutely sure before you do it. The only thing worse than spending all that money to level up enchanting would be to do it twice.

You might also consider what you want to replace it with. If you aren’t interested in any other profession you may as well keep enchanting. The only other professions that I can think of that could be useful at the level cap would be alchemy, as you can use potions even at level 60 or try to sell them in the auction house if you like. Engineering can be useful, depending on your class. But much of what you make requires engineering skill to use so not much of it can be used by alts. Or you could go with two gathering professions like skinning and mining if you are just after a profit.

I couldn't agree more. I am currently guildless and I spent a lot of money to get my chanting up to 262. You need to really think about what Calabar said about checking out the other skills. The money you would be spending on different skills could of been used on buying a better weapon or armor.

If you are looking at chanting for money. Might be good to get weapons or armor and chant them for the AH. Boost up the price to accomidate for the chant. Hope that helps.
