nub smithing vs enchanting questionFollow

im on my first character and he is a lvl 20 warrior. smithing and minning were the professions i chose because i had read that warriors are the most equipment dependent class in the game. I am getting more and more disapointed with smithing. the manual said something like "blacksmithing can produce items not found anywhere else in the game". even if this is true, are these items that i would want to equip? i havn't wanted to use an item i've made since i discovered the ah. i realise that i am not an artisan smither but lets say that i was. would i be able to equip something i made that was equal to or better than something i would buy at the ah?

currently i'm increasing my smithing skill by using a stack of copper bars to make two copper belts. i could sell the stack for many times the amount i would recieve from selling the belts to a vendor. what else am i supposed to do with them? doing this, i am missing out on big money.

if i will never want to use anything i make with smithing and minning i was thinking about switching to enchanting and tailoring. i know it will be expensive but what else is money for if not to improve your character? will the buffs i make be able to enhance whatever i get from the ah?.

can anyone suggest another profession set that would directly contribute to the power of my character? right now minning/smithing isn't doing me much besides losing money and sharpening my axe for thirty minutes at a time.

Hi,

I've got a lvl 24 warrior and also do smithing/mining. I had the same trouble as you with smithing but now at lvl 150 smithing I have started making some very useful items like Shining Silver Breastplate for example. While not making me a fortune it has saved me buying a lot of armour and weapons. If you want money pick a second gathering skill like skinning and sell at AH.

you have to keep your craft skill up with your level. be at the level where you can make things to use. sounds like you're far behind.

if the sharpening stones gives you skill-ups, make them and give them away to people you meet up with, including guild members at your level who can use that little bit of dmg assistance. it will help them, and you bc now you can make more stones for more skill-ups rather than waiting for you yourself to use up the supply you had.

also there will be some items that you can't use, or already made for yourself, but it will sell at the Auction House. I see a lot of gear from 1-20 is needed at the AH. this includes cloth, leather, and mail armor. find one that sells and make it for your skill ups. just dont flood the market.

there are even some lvl 10-20 green items that you can make. believe it or not, these items with +1 something still sells. either the buyer is an enchanter or someone else who says, green armor is better than white armor, even with only +1 increase.
