New Profession Scraper / MachinistFollow

#1 May 26 2005 at 9:59 AM Rating: Decent
Me and my friend were talking the other day about inprovements and while many things came up in our conversation one of the ideas we came up with particularly stuck.

We thought of a profession that is simialr to engineering but uses the enchanters ability to disenchant in a different way.

The disenchant would be called breakdown and you could use it on any item for example. You could breakdown a peice of leather or cloth armor and get light leather, medium leather, heavy leather etc... Depending on the rarity of the item. Or you could breakdown stuff like potions and get herbs.

So basically its like an engineering class but without the hassle of having to ask other palyers for items that you would have to go to the AH for because you cant get it.

Here is what I think:

Profession: Machinist,Scraper

Abilities that come with the profession:

Breakdown- Aloows the user to breakdown items of any value for parts - Excluding some foods, pets (only mechanical pets can be brokedown)quest items and other small various items. Basically you breakdown items for the root of what theyre made of and sometimes even better items.

Create(similar to engineering) -Allows you to create items found with breakdown and other items to a max skill of 300. (You can create ok weapons, armor, some trinkets, possibly potions also but not all of the possible ones etc...)

If you have any ideas on how this idea could be improved in "any" way then plz write them
Plz sign this if you like my idea, im just putting this out there for fun it would be nice to see what kind of response i get.

Seems totally unnecessary.

Engineering items already return many of the parts used after being destroyed.

Any green quality item can be disenchanted.

The taking apart of potions just makes no sense. If you think it does, I challenge you to uncook a piece of meat. Heavy leather to light leather - the option to combine leather is already a luxury. Allowing the inverse though? So I would then just hunt for five minutes, get 10 thick leather and end up with hundreds of light leather? Then I'd go to the vendor and sell them for 1s each and end up with waaaaay too much gold. Or would I just flood the AH with 500 light leather? If you allow reverse combos there would never be an economy for skinners trying to sell light leather.

You call it a hassle, I call it an economy. Like the real economy, people specialize... it isn't practical to be a doctor, a construction worker, an engineer and a clothing designer all at once in real life, so we each specialize in a trade, earn money and pay others to do the things we are not skilled in.

that's my $0.02

That seems like an idea brought over from FFXI. I still am looking for a Lumberjack/Carpenter profession whom makes arrows, bows, staves and other items in that category.
