what are the best money making professions mining/skinning mining/herbalism or skinning/herbalism?
hi
I prefer to take mining/skinning cause U can't track mines and herbs at the same time. Mining can give u more money in later game, herbalism in earlier.

it really depends on how badly u want to earn money. Skinning is really easy to lvl up to 300. but even so, it is really hard to sell leather in AH at high prices. you may only be able to sell it to NPC, but i believe that is fairly good already...
Mining and Herbalism will take you a while to reach lvl 300. Both professions are very promising at higher lvl. Herbs can be sold for at least 1gold per count. Im not quite sure about mining, but it should be similar to herbs...
So it really depends on each person's needs...

I would go look at the AH on your server, i know that stuff like Ghost Mushrooms sell well on some servers(as much as 3 gold) but not on mine, if I could get 50 silver I would be impressed.
seonc poster got it right, pick skinning and either mining or herb, trying to track both is a PITA, some herbs will sell for more than skinns, but remember skills are used more often, with the excepiton of wildvine and fadeleafe only alchemest use herbs, skinns are used by LW,BS,Tayloring,engenering, so if you skinn you have a lot more folks to buy you product. High price is only relevent if it sells.
My rogue has skinning and mining. Skinning is good because it’s so easy and you get large quantities of leather with very little effort. When selling leather keep in mind that you don’t make your money by charging high prices, you make it in bulk.
Mining can be a PITA to level. After a certain point, I believe its gold, you will no longer get skill points from smelting. You’ll only get one point per node you mine, if that. However, the higher end metals usually sell well and for decent prices. You’ll also get gems you can sell. You may be able to sell the stone as well, I’ve not tried, but I expect it would be much like leather and you’d have to sell it fairly cheap.

That, in addition to bulk leather, added up fairly quickly. The older the server the lower the prices, as more and more people become able to skin and mine the same thing as you. So prices will fluctuate a lot. But gathering professions are still a good source of income.

i like skinning, like the others said, you can get huge numbers of this easily.
but so can everyone else...that's why skins actually don't sell too high sometimes.
however, you can make up for it in quantity. eg when 20 medium skins fall to 25s, that sucks compared to 35-40s that it used to be. but at the same time, you probably have 4+ stacks of it so there's your 1g right there if you sell it now.
for my chars that can't skin, i hate fighting animals. it's so hard to walk away from that carcass hehe.
but for my chars that can skin, i'm almost content to fight animals as well as humanoids that drop cloth.

If ur mining 275 and lvl 60, just to goto Silithus and u make tons of money. 60% of my visit to the thorium mines in Silithus, I ended up getting 20+ thorium bars and an arcane crystal from there. (U have to be lvl 60 since the rich thorium veins in Silithus are guarded by lvl 56-60 elite mobs! u have to sneak in without aggroing them to mine. Some veins have 2-3 elites just standing next to them without moving and it is impossiblt to loot that without a party)An arcane crystal will easily go for 25g on my server. Thats why my alt also is a miner, 125 mining at lvl 27!
