Skinning vs Mining Which has more $$?Follow

I'm currently a 109 miner (not very far and a perfect time to switch) and I've seen my friend (skinner) be able to skin everything he kills. I on the other hand have to search out nodes specifically, which doesn't allow for much "killing two birds with one stone". However, does skinning get you more money later on? I'm still young in mining and I was just wondering which profession i should stick with.

Im a lvl 300 skinner myself and i agree that skinning makes for good money making. On the other hand the general trend at least on Runetotem seems to be that there are a massive amount of players switching to skinning exactly because the mining thing is a bit tideous and takes a while to lvl. U wil have to consider the general trend of ur server and also the fact that since you are not out to collecting the ore wth the intent of creating items the slow (but steady!) build-up of ore in your inventory is money in the bank just the same. since u dont have to put that ore into items u can also take the time to let the AH market "hunger" for ore and then get good prices for it. There is also the neat thing that when u dont have to use it yourself u can trade it with guildmembers and use it to barter between players out in the country sides where they happen to need some. often typing in the general chats that u WTS some ore will get it off ur hands fast with the possibility of making good money as u actually cash in on peoples immediate needs (they effectively buy the time they would otherwise have to spend on collecting the ore themselves) + handing out some smaller amounts of ore once in a while will deffo make a lot of people remember u for fun stuff in the future.

have fun!

I have a miner/skinner and I find I make a lot more money with mining depending on where you level. usually find "mines" with lots of humanoids for cloth drops and mine as you go, the potential to find gems increases this also. at 300 mining you can get stacks of thorium/mithril and find arcane crystals as opposed to farming dragon scales with skinning.

It depends on the item demands for your server. If there's next to no leatherworkers, then the demand for leather is going to be very low. If the skins don't sell then undercutting is going to make it pretty inefficient. Both smithing and engineering use mining materials, so the chance of this happening for mining is lower, but it still applies.

I think mining makes more money, you just have to be patient.
Ore is in higher demand on most servers.

NOTE: Best time to mine is early in morning
