I am looking for a good compilation of all cooking recipes (with references to where they drop or can be bought), and the same for engineering schematics.

Well sounds like a good idea, why dont you get on it and let me know when you are done?, well probly because what you are asking is a freeking huge project, or you could use the lists that have been compiled by Alla, to access them search Trade skills/By Trade, it is on the left hand side, the results will look something like http://wow.allakhazam.com/dyn/skills/skillline185.html that, but you can search every skill like that.
