Hi, 300/300 alchemist/herbalist here.
I have a question on transmuting essences, anyone know where I would find the recipes? I am an alliance char (NE hunter on Lothar server named Knyghtmare).
I make all sorts of pots for my guildmates, they send me herbs, I send them pots. Not making a lot of money though :-(. I thought pots would be better sellers. I made my first philosopher's stone and want to try transmuting something. The only thing worth transmuting that I can see is Arcanite, cost for Mats is high (arcane crystal is running 20g in AH), so profit is only about 5-10g depending on AH that day. I see alot of people looking for essences though, thought that might be a way to make some $$$$$, but have never seen the recipes in AH, and don't know where to go for drops/buy.
Any ideas?

There are only a couple essence transmute recipes that are world drops. Most of them you have to have high faction with some group to buy from a specific NPC.
If you click on the Recipe link in the Alchemy list here, it'll tell you the NPC vendor who sells, or if it's a world drop it'll have a bunch of mobs listed.

dang 20g? lucky, on my server they are 30-35g each lol
anyways, there are I think 2 recipes for transmutes in gadgetzan from the alchemy supply vendor (I think). The water>Air is obtainanble only by completing scholo and the recipe is BoP

I make my money transmuting arcanite for others. 3 gold each transmute. Also, Alchemy is a great money maker at the high levels, but you make it in quantity not all at once like blacksmithing per say.
Transmuting essences for money inst worth it unless you are truning them into air. All the other essences sell well on thier own.
The big money makers are Elixirs of mongoose and demonslaying. Frost and shadow oil. And healing and mana potions sell well as long as you dont gouge people.
I mainly sell the herbs now and the potions listed above. It takes constant trips to the AH to keep it supplied but herbs and potions are almost all profit.

No idea of how the "other" transmutations will sell, but I'm pretty sure that Transmute: Life to Earth is bought by the Argent Dawn quartermaster at Honored reputation. However, it might be revered... wouldn't that be a pain? ^_^
