Bump.

And if you've found it do you know who is the trainer for either alliance or horde for this item?

They're fun. I got the pattern in Orgrimmar in the leatherworking building. The pattern is limited supply from the leatherworking supplies vendor. They take 2 heavy leather and 1 fine thread. Made a bunch of them, sold about 6 of them at 50s a piece, and me and my guildies had a good time standing in front of the bank tossing them around.

yeah i saw that too in Orgrimmar. Thought they were attacking each other for a min or 2. then saw they were just throwing brown balls around to each other. I got to say, blizzard needs to implement something like soccer, baseball, or football. Could play out in the open grounds. That would be pretty cool. Have something to do.

For those of you in Alliance, you can get them from the trainer in IF, absurdly simple to make, really, wonder if you still skill up on making them if you were down that far...

DDegg,

I couldn't believe it, just for giggles I went to the AH to see what the recipy might cost for theses level 10 crafting heavy leather balls.

10 gold. 10 freakin gold with a buy out of 100 gold. as horrified as I was I decided to take a look to see if I could get it at the leathercrafter in IF. I sure could. So I wanted to see if I could low ball the other person selling it. I posted mine for 10gold with a 20 buy out. Although I thought the price was crazy, I was one of the people that made gold off of the winter cookies for father winter.

Update:

This recipy is selling for about 1 gold on average now. But it costs about 45 silver (I think its about that) at the vendor.

To save money just visit the Leather supplier in IF.

The balls are cool but it would be nice to be able to mark a ball as yours in some way.

You know, get out the big black Sharpie and write your name on it so the neighborhood kids don't take it. Once those balls start flying it is hard to keep track of who started with one.

Just would be cool to be able to have the leatherworker put the name of the person they make it for or have some way to put a name on it.
Anyway, just babbling now.
done.

I could be wrong but I could have sworn that I bought my pattern from the little gnome, leatherworking supplier inside of Ironforge for a mere 15 silver. But it was a limited supply recipe(he only had the one on him at the time I found it.) and there was only the one in stock.

Now, if it's like any of the other "rare" recipes from vendors, it *might* be only 15-20 minutes before he restocks it. I've seen this time work on the Gem-studded belt/Shadowskin gloves recipes down in Booty Bay.

I'd just like to know what the heck these balls are for...:(

Yeah, I have seen people playing with their balls all over the place in IF a while ago. I mean, they had their balls out and playing with them right in front of everybdy. :0. People these days are sick. But really, I have seen people messing around witht hem, but I am onot a skinner, so I wouldnt know anything.

maybe that is why they are AFK cuz they are playing with their own balls?

My husband is a leatherworker and has plenty of balls (lol I had to say that). Anyway he gave me a few to stacks of them to play with or sell and one day this guy runs up and says "hey give me my ball back...i threw it to you give it back" well I don't know if he really did or not I was at the AH and wasn't paying attention but I had at least 2 stacks of them so I said sorry and gave him an extra ball in appology. My quesiton is this:

What if you let someone play with your balls and they run off with it...will it return to your backpack once they reach a certain distance from you? You know, like an anti-thieft device ... a "low-jack" for balls?

Perhaps it's something for the dev's to think of "a low-jack potion for balls"

Or better yet, since i am an enchanter looking to make money, an enchantment that turns the thiefs hands red for 3 days and tatoos "thief" on their chest ... lol that would be cool =)

The pattern is bought off the leatherworking suppliers, I got mine in Org. The only problem is that the pattern is in limited supply, i believe 1, which is why u find it for stupid prices in AH. I don't recommend buying the pattern from AH, and instead go around towns and check the leatherworking suppliers.

I don't understand that "limited supply" thing because I bought the reciepe in IF from a vendor for my husband and not more than 2-3 minutes had passed when my daughter walks in and says "oh buy me one too!!" and I walked right back up to the same vendor and bought it again?

10 gold is just ... I am speechless that someone would try to rob a fellow player like that.

Most limited supply items do not respawn that quickly. I think Blizzard made an exception with this item because they knew everybody would want one and they knew the chaos that would ensue if it only spawned a couple of times a day. Of course, that begs the question of why they made it a limited supply item in the first place. *shrugs*

I'm pretty sure in the last Patch blizzard reduced the cool down on this item respawn. The problem started the first days of the throwing balls release. People were able to sell the recipe for more than a few gold in the first days of its release. Now with it spawning this often the price has dropped to a more reasonable price (as it should have been in the first place) where anyone can afford it.

I hope everyone has enjoyed the fun of using that item. Its a good time. almost as fun as playing frizbie with the wife...but not quite.

Actually I noticed something similar with the Aquadynamic Fish Attractor. I was fishing off the docks in Desolace and bought out the attractors off the vendor there. 10 min later i went back to the vendor to sell some things and noticed the attractor stock was refiilled. About 20 min after that i decided to check again, to see whether there are more, but to no avail. I'm not sure how exactly the restocking timer works but with this situation it was quite inconsistent.
