pradesian, your a star, thank you!!

Although, now i've moved up to 283 in alchemy, and it seems the only potions that aren't green, use ether gromsblood or ghost mushrooms, the gromsblood isn't a problem, i can farm desolace as long as it takes(it appears no one else on my server is doing alchemy much) but as for the ghost mushrooms, im totally and utterly stuck, i've been told it's at the instance in desolace, but is there even a single spawn of this shroom somewhere a lvl 42 can find and pick solo, i've maxed herbilism now, so am desparate to get this so i can max out alchemy too=)

Thanks heaps for any infomation you can help me with=)

Sorry to pester=)

Anybody else have questions for lower lvl alchemy, i'll happily answer what i can=)

A Really good place for Ghost Mushrooms is Skulk Rock in the Hinterlands. It is a pretty small cave inhabbited by Slimes and Oozes that are Mid to High 40th levels (if I remember correctly). You can move through the whole cave killing slimes and harvest about 4-6 plants, and by the time you harvest the last one the first ones picked will have respawned. Although it might not be completely soloable for a lvl 42, it is the absolute best place to get those mushrooms quickly as far as I've seen. Take a buddy for about half an hour to 45 minutes and you should get a stack of 10-20 or so.

My Favorite Herb to harvest is currently Mountain Silversage. It's used for Major Healing Potions, Mongoose Elixirs and such. It is Rarely on the AH on my server, and I put it up for 8g buyouts per stack of 10. It sells very fast and worth good money.

The last few days I've been picking Firebloom in the Badlands, there's also quite a bit of Kingsblood (yawn) and some Purple Lotus. Some of the tightest herb spawn concentrations were near the Rock Elemental cave.

Haven't had much luck finding Blindgrass, any recommendations for that?

I also went ahead and got Philosopher's Stone and Transmute (both Iron:Gold and Mithril:Truesilver). The 48 hour cooldown after making just one Truesilver Bar is a bit irritating but I suppose over time it will add up. Our guild blacksmiths, engineers etc don't use Truesilver yet so by the time they get there I'll have a small stockpile for them. Would much rather have seen Transmute require some additional component but have a shorter cooldown :-/ Eventually I suppose Arcanite Bars may provide a better justification for the Transmute investment but for now it's something of a disappointment.

Yeah, I'm at 290 alchemy now, and I'm looking for a good place to find Mountain Silversage (My Moongoose Elixirs are still orange, but I need this herb!!). I heard there's a good amount in Winterspring; Zxtole, can you confirm this?

Also, by blindgrass, I think Morthandeus means Blindweed. There is a TON in Swamp of Sorrows. It is literally all over. I did some quests in the area and have 3 stacks (yes, of 20) when all was said and done.

Stonescale Eels I have found while fishing in Feralas. Kinda low drop rate though; maybe 1/10. You need at least 200 skill to fish there, but around 250 to catch anything reliably.

Also, met someone who can make flasks of distilled wisdom today. Said the recipe dropped either in Scholo or Strat; said it was probably the boss of Strat. Yay for high-level instances -_-

Here are the places I've gone for herbs:

The low-level herbs can be found anywhere, so I won't bother.

For the Alliance mid-level alchemist, Wetlands. All the herbs you need can be found here-- Steelbloom in the mountains, Stranglekelp off the coast, Liferoot in the swamps, and the invaluable Kingsblood in many places in between.

For the 30s and low 40s, Stranglethorn Vale, Badlands, and Swamp of Sorrows. STV has lots of Goldthorn, which is a big reason to go there; also more Steelbloom, good amounts of Khadgar's Whisker, occasional Kingsblood, but the *real* attraction is Fadeleaf. Rogues need copious amounts of this stuff, and there's a fair amount of it in STV. On a PvP server rogues will pay out the nose for Fadeleaf; sell it in stacks of ten to maximize profit. You can also get Purple Lotus in STV if you're willing to chop through the trolls.

Swamp of Sorrows gives you more Goldthorn and Liferoot and absurd amounts of Blindweed, which powers some very nice caster potions. In Badlands you can find considerable Firebloom, and lesser amounts of Goldthorn, Whisker, and Kingsblood. Tanaris is another good place to go for Firebloom... especially since there are no other herbs to be found, apart from the occasional Purple Lotus.

If, for some reason, you need Wintersbite, I recommend Alterac mountains. Take the road North from Tarren Mill. Stay where there's snow. If you have a mount, you can scour the area pretty quickly. In addition to Wintersbite, you can also find Goldthorn and Whisker there.

To get Sungrass, you can go to Ferelas or Hinterlands. I've found Hinterlands to be preferable, but that's possibly due to my alchemist being Alliance-side. Hinterlands has lots of Sungrass, and also the occasional Golden Samsa. Follow Zxtole's advice if you need Ghost Mushrooms.

That's all I could think of for now...

To Transmute Mithril for Truesilver? I'd say nothing: on my server it means you'd make 10s more (Mithril is 60; Truesilver is 70 a bar).

If you can't sell it, meh, just buy the mithril yourself and transmute it ^_^

Hello. My name is Tallonzek, I'm a 24 gnome mage on the Bloodscalp server. I am doing herbalism and alchemy. Herbalism I am doing rather well at finding the herbs needed to raise up my skill, am around 160+ right now. Alchemy is a different story, stuck at 150. Everyone I talk to tells me something different. I am in grave need of someone who knows what they are talking about. Guild I am in right now seems to be madw up of new players. So none of them really know. I have tried going to Ironforge, Stormwind, and Darnassus. Unless I am just overlooking something, I haven't been able to locate person to talk to. Please reply if you can help me.

omnismurf,
If youre on a PvE server i would say pick up fishing, go to zoram strand (the blackfathom's deep beach) and fish away (blackmouths' firefin's) and do a "round" every 10 minutes for stranglekelp.
After every 2 hour session there i can roughly sell 10 fire oil's and 20 free action potions and those sell for a very high price on my server.
If your not on a PvE server this tip is for hordies only ^^

Where is a good place to find goldthorn and wild steelbloom?

Stinks that I am stuck at fishing rank 4. I am really going to need to bump that up considered I will need to eels for all my flasks and the nice defense pot.
lv 54 druid 300/300 herb/alch here.
I really liked the alch. profession. Made lots of cash on it too.
The only thing that you ever want to transmute is Arcanite. I usually get an easy 5g every 2 days for that. Not much but its just extra cash.

I am a night elf so to get mageroyal and briathorn I was still in Darkshore and it was not a problem for me. They were all over the place there.. briathorn is always right next to a tree and mageroyal is a field herb like peacebloom.

Yucheen
I find the best place to get goldthorn is at Arathi Highlands. You will find them on the medium sized rocks on the middle of the feild. You will find the wildsteelbloom around the outer mountains as well. For my steelbloom though I got it mostly from the wetlands in that excavation site.. If you are high enough lv.

If anyone is having problems leveling there alchemy then that means you are advancing too quickly. There is no need to rush through this profession because most can have it maxed at 300 by lv 40 and then there is nothing else to do the rest of the game but sell and use a little bit.

Don't think you need groomsblood and ghost mushrooms to get to lv 300 either.. either get the drop or buy from AH the Superior mana potion and just far blindweed from sorrows and sungrass from hinter and you will get to lv 300 in no time..
i have lots of ghost mushrooms now because I have been questing in Mara (instance in desolace) that is really the only good place to get the stuff.. other then that there is a couple spawns in all the little caves.

Grave moss grows in several locations and never in abundance. I have found a few spawns in the kodo graveyard, desolace, and 1 in stromgarde keep. It also grows in RFD where the skeleton boss is, can't remember his name, but i remember it growing on top of a pile of bones. Basically, if you need to find grave moss, go to graveyards :P

There's a vendor in Gadgetzan with that recipe. It's a limited quantity though, so if he's out check the AH to buy it overpriced or wait a day and try again.

Where do i find sungrass? im a 39 lvl troll roque.

Okay. Now that we've covered the herbs part. How about some low down on the recipes?

I see tons of recipes that are vendor bought but are going for stupid amounts of money in the AH.

How about everyone post Horde and Alliance where you have found vendor bought recipes.

I have an undead warlock lvl 24. I have been buying recipes here and there and looked in AH. I 've seen tons of Vendor bought going for unaffordable prices.

I bought superior mana potion the other day in UC from the alchemy supplier in the Appothocarium.

How about guys?
