The unknown CityFollow

Hey all, i have a question.
Posted the same about a year ago but never got an answer.

Think everyone know the city you see in the Opening movie of FFXI.
You also see the same city in the Benchmark from FFXI.

Two years ago when i started to play.
I always thought it was San d'Oria.
So when my tarutaru was lvl14 i was for the first time at San d'Oria and found out this city looked allot different.
Then i thought it was Bastok, Kazham or Rabao but after a while i found out those werent the city from the movie.
So I posted something about this on allakhazam and someone told me it was the City Tavnazian Safehold.
So 6 months ago i came for the first time at this city and it really dont look like the city from that movie while in the benchmark from FFXI you see allot of Tarutaru doing emotes at Lufaise Meadows and that other area.
You see this city in the horizon but ive never seen it before while i walked there.

So can anyone tell me if SE added this Area/city in the game or only used it for the opening movie, Benchmark and POL Viewer wallpaper?

Think its kinda stupid to add a city + a whole story about it in an opening movie and then not add it in a game.

i do believe it's supposed to be Tavnazian Safehold or somewhere nearby. The little boy is Aldo, who later grows up to be the leader of Jeuno branch of the Tenshodo. Interesting that he has a younger sister in the story line, when his (older?) sister is killed (I assume) in the beginning CS. Actually, if you go to Lufaise Meadows and stand on a cliff, you can see the ruined city.

It is the city of Tavnazia. It was destroyed in the crystal war, and no longer exists. You can see the ruins of it from Blueblade Fell in Lufaise Meadows.

The tavnazian safehold is the spot where the survivors of the city gathered and hid out after the war.

You are correct but I do think that the Sacrarium is the sewers that run under the Church that's up top of that cliff IMO so you can actually go there but dont quote me on that as I'm not sure.

/sigh

No, the city is NOT accessible to players. The sacrarium is not the sewer, that's phomiuna aqueducts, and those run under the safehold.

No seriously, i think its, at least, near Tavnazia too. Makes sense to me, as far as ive got to know the story.

Yes, the city in the opening movie is Tavnazia.

Tavnazian Safehold is the area the survivors went to when the original city was destroyed. You cannot actualy go into the old city (it's not a zone), but you CAN see it from a distance. You have to go to the NorthEast corner of Lufaise Meadows (on the map it says "Blueblade Fell"). There are a lot of high level mobs around, some true-sight, so you must be careful.

Aldo has two sisters. One is Verena, which you meet in the ZM story line, as well as rank missions (magicite). If you progress far enough in the CoP story, you fight out what became of the older sister, Emalyn (sp).
