I know there's a lot of high level white mages out there with other 75 jobs like me. Just trying to get a feel for how many people could come for Shen, let's say Wednesday at 6 EST. Rev. Mail is sweet and if you like meleeing your white mage at all you should come get it.
While I've participated in multiple Shen runs, I don't see much point in the armor. Any whm I've ever duo'd with (I have them melee of course, can make light lawl!) has needed to use Nobles for the refresh to keep up Haste and other buffs and even with the 1mp/tick of that would need to rest eventually. Using the Mail would make you need to rest more often I'd think.

They were /smn too <.< Haste is 40mp a cast I think? 1mp/tick is 20mp a minute, so two hastes and you need 4min to recover that mp, haste lasts 3min I believe, so you then have a loss of mp if you don't do any healing or -na'ing or debuffing, which most whm's would do in duo situations I'd hope. Even solo I don't think the stats do enough for melee damage, but I'd have to look at the full stats again.
the stats arent all that great... yea they're good, but not great... -25mp, -5mnd, +10acc, +10eva... its basically a scorp harness that looks like a hauby, but made for a whm... dont get me wrong, id love to toy around with this, but its not something im going to cry over if i cant get it
well its a real easy and quick fight and a fun piece to mess around with. i dont see any reason not to have it.

from what ive read/been told, this fight isnt that easy, a little challenging but something that a bunch of skilled players shouldnt have too much trouble with... dont get me wrong, id love to have this, i just think that itll be harder to gather the people together to help with this then actually fighting Shen ^^
I hear you have something like 45 seconds before he goes in his shell. It is possible to kill him in that time if you have an alliance with many BLMs. Melee get to 300% before fight. Pop > light skillchain > Thundaga3 MB x6+ > dark skillchain > Blizzaga MBx6+ = dead.

But with the +10 EVA it makes your stoneskin last much longer than fighting in Refresh gear, if you are soloing.

TARU WHM soloing Sabotender Bailarin....with gimpy /THF!
I solo'ed TONS of Gigas in Beaucedine, and clearly, while Noble tunic gave me +1MP (I was gimpy /THF too.....) I got hit every other hit or so and had to recast stoneskin in the middle of the fight. (Cuz WHMs can't kill stuff that fast ._.) With Reverend Mail, I went 2-3 Gigas without a recast because I will get hit only once or twice a fight. So in the long run, Rev. Mail saves more MP.
I'd say if you are concerned about soloing and running out of MP, bring a Yag or a melon juice or two. You can swap in refresh gear while you're moving around, and with /SMN and Sanction Refresh (in ToAU) you can have more than enough MP recouperation.
WHM soloing takes more preparation and thought than most jobs, I think.....collect and dusting off the melee gear (life belt, genbu shield, Ruby Rings, Rev Mail, Pineal Hat (so I don't have an O hat), Morgen, spike neckless, HP earrings, Fenrir Stone....), melee food, MND stuff to swap in for stoneskin/enfeeb casting, refresh juices...no wonder I solo as SMN!
