Toramarai Canal is one of the *eck* places because it's hard to get there, and not everyone can get it. You either need to have a whm, blm, AND rdm...the appropriate Windurst fame...or someone who's done the 50 billion quests to get access from Windurst Walls. And considering that EVERYTHING there aggros and links, death and the canal can scare even the most seasoned vet.

All that being said, I am one of the people who did those 50 billion quests to get access through Windurst Walls. If you can find me when I'm not busy, I will be more than happy to help you get your coffer. All I'll ask is that 1) you make a list of what mobs will drop the coffers, 2) you are familiar with the coffer spawns (ffxi-atlas works wonders for this), and 3) you have a way to get into the canal. If you can come that prepared, I will gladly help you out.

Look me up :)

So what level would the RDM, WHM and BLM have to be to open the door to get in?

They'd have to be at least level 1 :D

If you're serious about getting all the info and prep work done, I'll help to make sure you get this key. This SMN AF is one of the hardest AFs to get in the game (for the reasons I said earlier). But as much as I'd like to help, I'll only help those who want to help themselves by coming prepared.

Oh my Gosh!

Woot, another SMN I can helplessly mangle and destroy, muahahaha... >.>

Anyway...

Yeah, I'm with Sophus on this. Him being my good buddy, and my shell holder, I'd be more than happy to tag along to help. I know the mobs and all, and have my own access, but I ask you still do the research on the mobs, for your own gain. ^^

I'm 75 SMN and been down the road before. :P

Give us a shout!

If you haven't done the Rhinostery series of quests (completed "Blue Ribbon Blues" by killing Lich C Magnus, and at least started/opened "Toraimarai Tormoil"), then the only entrance you will have availble to you is via Horotuo Ruins (the East tower in East Sarutabaruta).

The path via the ruins leads you to the three mage gate, which you can open by having a RDM, BLM, and WHM each standing on the corresponding platforms (thus the name of the gate), OR you can have someone with a Portal Charm open it for you. You get the Portal charm by trading a rolanberry (not a pie, just the fruit) to Kupipi in Heaven's Tower after you have completed Windurst mission 3-2 (which means you must be a Windy citizen, or at least used to be). Note that this door CANNOT be opened from the inside, unfortunately. It is a one way door.

I've found that the Scavenger Crabs and Stygian Pugils drop the keys fairly often (I got one fast by just playing around w/ NPC and staff skillup). One really good camp is I-8/J-9 of the second map, which is a very short distance from the Windurst Walls zone. The other good camp would be F-9/G-10. Everything agros, so be careful.
