OK. Heres the deal. Got a new pc today. With a dvd writer. Borrowed a few dvds from a friend. Of course they are copy-right protected. I heard you can get around that and so I downloaded a few programs. They seem to do as they should. As I can copy the contents of the dvd using dvd-cloner. Problem is I only have 1 disc drive. The post software that came with the pc still gives me the copy-protection error. Anyone have any suggestions? I basically want to copy the movie, create a temp file, then burn it to a disc.

This is probably the best introduction site on step by step and which programs to use for someone new to DVD ripping. If you want freeware also go to download.com and you can also scout on MIRC to see if they are full programs with keygens. Any questions pls send me and IM. Good luck.

Well if you don’t mind paying for the software Clonedvd2 and Anydvd has to be one of the easiest programs out there in my opinion. Basically Anydvd starts with your pc always running in the background it will remove any movie encryption coming from your dvd drive. I have not found one it cannot do yet. You then just run Clonedvd2. So basically Anydyd will decrypt any information going into Clonedvd so you just make a few choices and you are burring.
There are absolutely lots of free programs out there but I personally could not be bothered messing with running a program to decrypt running another to shrink running another to copy and so on. Also Anydvd and Clonedvd2 are updated for free (if purchased) just about once a week to combat any changes to the studios make to there encryption process so can always burn all the new movies that are out. Anyway here is there site the best part is they have a 21day free trial so give it a try. The trial is full blown version but you will get some annoying popup saying you have ***days left to try this software until you buy it.

if you can find the Nero Burner, theres a nifty free program I use, its called dvd shrink, its really useful if you rent a dvd from like, blockbuster, and want to make a copy of it straight for your collection. it removes most "copyright" stuff, so it takes whats all on the dvd (normally huge files) and Shrinks it to fit on your average 4.5g DVD+_ R or RW's.

I would also like to recommend DVD Shrink.
Nero is good. I used it to burn a PS2 game's ISO file to DVD. Worked like a charm, should be easy for a movie.
