Where it's taking place is 3 minutes away from my house... seems awefully tempting. >_>

I'm probably gonna go.. I wont know until middle of Feb, but I do know that I wouldnt get there until Friday/Saturday. I go to shows and expos all the time for other things so this will be a nice getaway.

I think you'd also have to go that thursday night as well, but I am not sure about that yet, cause of the "meet & greet" session. It would be nice to see you there, though, 6. But what I do know is - Its $100 at the door btw.

Hey Marleau, if you DO go, ask THIS for the development team for me please.

(not trying to cause drama here)

In the latest update, the MPK issue was addressed by having monsters disappear and the reappear in their normal pop position. However, this has made a lot of good, honest Beastmasters very upset because when their pets disappear after using "Leave" it makes it very difficult for Beastmasters to solo. Why was it done this way? Could it have been possible for the Development Team to make it so monsters that were zoned, or left by Beastmasters would be non-aggro/non-linking until they wandered back to their spawn point? Think of it as a territorial animal. When an animal wanders out of it's territory, it becomes very passive and non confrontational, but when something or someone wanders into it's area, it becomes very aggressive.
I know the MPK issue was a very major problem, and the Development Team has done it's best to address the issue, however, not EVERYONE is happy with the update, and a lot of the Beastmaster population is up in arms because of the update. Please, take my suggestion into consideration, and any feedback that you give regarding my suggestion will be greatly appreciated.

Let me know what they say if you do get to ask them this, ok?

I more than certainly will, especially about that topic... The BST job is all but useless now, as most exp parties shun them in the first place. I wonder what they'll do to correct the problem, so yeah... just remind me about it in tell or on here and I'll ask them.

OH **** Marleau !! hotels/motels there are expensive !
which one r where will u stay? I cant pay 300 for a freggin room -__-
#10 Jan 11 2006 at 2:36 PM Rating: Decent
Glitterngld, I live in LA, always have... I was born and raised here, thus I can be a tad more accomodating with hotel preferences.... LA, like Shiva, is also on an inflation roll in some areas, especially in as posh an area as Santa Monica is. I can be most accomodating, especially since the hotels they're recommending are well... too expensive.

For the accomodations, $300 a day is asking too much.... $150-$300 for three days is a tad better, dont you think? If so, what kind of hotel are you looking for? A Motel 6 or a Sheraton kinda thing? I can give you many options in safe neighborhoods around the city. If you prefer driving a car or taking a bus or something to the event please let me know so I can be most accomodating to you. I can offer directions from the hotel and such. I can also offer alternate secret routes if things on the freeway get bad, or if you're taking the bus, which route is easiest for you I will tell you. I've ridden the system since 8th grade, so I know more than I should.

Speaking of, how far distance wise did you wish to go? I know some decent hotels outside Santa Monica that are decent in price... You shouldn't be over $300 at those spots... Some may not be in the BEST of spots, but they're safe enough...

/tell me for any questions, or type a response here. I'll be at work for a few more hours -.-

ya I found some like a few miles away but since I am flying in and Ive never been there before I was going to try to get a place with airport shuttle service but then how would I get to the event?
#12 Jan 12 2006 at 1:06 PM Rating: Decent
That all depends where you're going to be staying at.... Are you taking a bus or renting a car. I assume you're flying into LAX, right? Some people tend to fly into Burbank or Ontario for cheaper flight rates ^.- LAX, however, is still the closest airport to the event, which is what I assume youre flying into... If you're taking a bus, here's the lowdown on the Airport area:

The problem with LAX is the numerous bus systems that go to the airport-bus terminal outside of the airport entrance, so it might be confusing at first. Theres:

- The Santa Monica Big Blue Bus, a personal favorite of mine, which will take you to Santa Monica (The 3 goes from the airport to the pier... The Pier, btw, is classified as the Third Street Promenade area, which is within walking distance to the pier. Also note that 3rd St is also a pedestrian-only street, so you'll be stopping close to 4th st. ^.- This is the Santa Monica Big Blue Bus website for more information:

www.bigbluebus.com/home/index.asp

If you're choosing a hotel close to the airport, I reccomend looking at this bus system so you can take Route 3, so you at least know you can get to the event with no trouble. The SM Blue Bus Route 3 runs til 11pm so thats just a heads up. Last 3 Bus from 4th And Santa Monica Blvd to the Airport on the weekends is 11:15 pm, so you can easily pull this off. I've been checking out the SM website while at work.

- The Metro, which takes you anywhere in LA, but also to Santa Monica (Routes 4, 20, 720, 33 and many others go to the Pier from my house)... The one thing about the Metro system with the Lines in Santa Monica that I can promise for sure: The routes that go to Downtown LA from the pier are 24-7, thus you'll be able to get to your room if its in Downtown or somewhere on Wilshire Blvd or Santa Monica Blvd. The website for the info on this system:

www.mta.net

- The Airport shuttle buses, which go to and from the airport to different areas surrounding the airport... They also go to the nearby Metro Green Line which if you transfer to a couple of other trains, can take you to Hollywood, Pasadena, Downtown LA or Long Beach... The trains run til midnight. The Airport Shuttles, I believe, are 24-7 to accomodate the nightly passengers, but I am not sure about that one.

- The other two city buses that will have no use for you whatsoever, the Culver Citybus and Torrance Transit. They go to Torrance and Culver City, which have no reason to take them. Neither city is close to the event area.

Hope this info helps for you in choosing a decent hotel by the airport! ^.-

Thanks Marl..

Im gonna be driving but Im planning on putting my car in parked storage by the airport (or anything else I can find). This will help alot.
#14 Jan 12 2006 at 7:13 PM Rating: Decent
The parking at the festival itself will be hellacious since its at the SM Pier... It's bad enough with the people who are NOT going to the festival (theres 2 malls in the area - the Promenade itself and Santa Monica Place next door, not to mention the beach itself! >.<), not to mention the inclusion of people on the other servers who are in the process of planning similar welcome gatherings.

But, of course, yours truly has a plan to this as well, should you see the need for it. Glitterngld brought up a good point, though... The hotels in Santa Monica are not cheap... So, just out of the blue, where did you want to stay? By the airport? Probably not... If you do, then just take the SM Bus as you've already read in my last post.

In a case like yours, Six, why not give Downtown LA, the San Fernando Valley, or Hollywood a try? Maybe if you're early enough and in the area, and because you're a friend of mine, you could even come with me, Beuwolf, and Hiei if you want to. Hiei and I live within walking distance of the Downtown area, plus we're close to a Red Line station, so we can join up to make it easier for you as I am getting Beuwolf to drive us... ^.-

At least you can get home to/from the festival by bus from each of these areas, and as I said before, the Metro system to downtown is 24-7, plus I may even help with the ride home. Plus, your car will be fine where it is and you wouldn't have to pay excess charges, should the hotel/parking lot at the airport be forcing you to. You're free to come along if you so wish. Its only one bus ride from Downtown so it will be fast. Plus, you got a friend coming with.

The Red Line is on www.mta.net for more information. Please note you can also take that as well to LAX. But to do so, you must transfer to two other lines - Blue, then Green...

The hotel rates are at least in the $200-$250 for the three days range in the areas I've mentioned, and it should also .... The airport should be no different but please keep in mind that area should be clustered with people.... I just hope they won't all be sold out should you choose to stay there instead.

/tell me for more info.

Congratulations!

Trust me, theres gonna be more people representing Shiva than you know. I've got at least 4 people coming, and they're all from Shiva. I know more people that I want coming, but they're a tad harder to convince cause of their financial situation. However, we seriously are going to have to meet up, as I found out theres an adventure involved in one of the days. To unlock a thief's treasure or something, you need to help each other out somehow. The least we can do is find out more information and prepare for this. I am already getting news of Titan and Seraph servers getting some big vouching support at the festival, so we do need to plan swiftly to counter this.

I will do my best to get my Southern California contingent over to the festival as well. I know a few people around here that I am trying to convince to go. But I do assure you, Shiva will be represented at the festival. Just persuading people to go might be easy, though, just because Hiei is going, so we can all "/slap" him, lol.

But as a rule, in exchange for this, I ask that all hatred of HNMls's/"certain people" are dropped... call it a cease fire/olympic truce if you will... as we all know theres major drama between a few of us on the server (whether it be people against one ls or one player) as it is and that should apply to anyone that goes. We're not in Shiva while in Santa Monica, so honestly at that time, I doubt anyone wants to hear about ls drama or needs it. We're there to get to know and meet each other and all have fun together. Its the spirit of the festival. Its always best to have an open mind, as you may actually get to like the person at the end of things.

Marl, I have recieved several tells about this. I would like to clear this issue up. As Marl had indicated, yes I will be driving but only taking Marl, Hiei,6, and a buddy of mine. Remember I drive a SUV and not a bus. I'm not interested taking the whole shiva server or any other server in my car. (Unless you send me a serket ring/astral earring/Hedgehog bomb, only then, I will consider giving rides.)

I will be bringing the fraps.

But I would be more than happy to meet everyone at the event or maybe we can go out drinking. Let me know where u staying by sending tell in-game. I'm also looking forward to meeting others from other servers.

As Marl had indicated, all ls's drama/hate/bs/ aside. It would be awesome to meet each and everyone one of you. I look forward to meeting you, and no i will not be dressed into costume but in common urban clothes.

As for me, since I speak Japanese, I will be asking questions that I get from my JP friends.

See you there people!

I was going to mention that, Beu.... I just found out this afternoon... Please don't /tell Beu begging for rl tele.... We aren't offering it at this time. However, if you would like to come still, I'll give you DIRECTIONS TO... This is NOT a ride offer as I have no car. Thats why I'm riding with Beu..

Btw, I apologize, Beu, for the constant /tells... I'm the organizer here. Not him.

I hope that clears up everything. Thank you.

okay.. so unfortunately I had to wait to get my tickets..

I figured worst case; I would buy them at the door. The event is now sold out and it has been announced that there will be no more ticket sales (even at the door).

ffxifestival.com wrote:
All the tickets for Fan Festival 2006 have been purchased resulting in our highest event turnout ever!

Our largest event ever has just sold out of pre-registration tickets and because we completely sold out we're unable to sell tickets at the door.
/sigh

Vegas Anyone?
