That all depends where you're going to be staying at.... Are you taking a bus or renting a car. I assume you're flying into LAX, right? Some people tend to fly into Burbank or Ontario for cheaper flight rates ^.- LAX, however, is still the closest airport to the event, which is what I assume youre flying into... If you're taking a bus, here's the lowdown on the Airport area:
The problem with LAX is the numerous bus systems that go to the airport-bus terminal outside of the airport entrance, so it might be confusing at first. Theres:
- The Santa Monica Big Blue Bus, a personal favorite of mine, which will take you to Santa Monica (The 3 goes from the airport to the pier... The Pier, btw, is classified as the Third Street Promenade area, which is within walking distance to the pier. Also note that 3rd St is also a pedestrian-only street, so you'll be stopping close to 4th st. ^.- This is the Santa Monica Big Blue Bus website for more information:
www.bigbluebus.com/home/index.asp If you're choosing a hotel close to the airport, I reccomend looking at this bus system so you can take Route 3, so you at least know you can get to the event with no trouble. The SM Blue Bus Route 3 runs til 11pm so thats just a heads up. Last 3 Bus from 4th And Santa Monica Blvd to the Airport on the weekends is 11:15 pm, so you can easily pull this off. I've been checking out the SM website while at work.
- The Metro, which takes you anywhere in LA, but also to Santa Monica (Routes 4, 20, 720, 33 and many others go to the Pier from my house)... The one thing about the Metro system with the Lines in Santa Monica that I can promise for sure: The routes that go to Downtown LA from the pier are 24-7, thus you'll be able to get to your room if its in Downtown or somewhere on Wilshire Blvd or Santa Monica Blvd. The website for the info on this system:
www.mta.net
- The Airport shuttle buses, which go to and from the airport to different areas surrounding the airport... They also go to the nearby Metro Green Line which if you transfer to a couple of other trains, can take you to Hollywood, Pasadena, Downtown LA or Long Beach... The trains run til midnight. The Airport Shuttles, I believe, are 24-7 to accomodate the nightly passengers, but I am not sure about that one.
- The other two city buses that will have no use for you whatsoever, the Culver Citybus and Torrance Transit. They go to Torrance and Culver City, which have no reason to take them. Neither city is close to the event area.
Hope this info helps for you in choosing a decent hotel by the airport! ^.-
