If you are a moron, please don't go to a Promyvion.Follow

Tonight was my third attempt in Promyvion-Holla, but my 1st attempt as Black Mage. Strangely, I won the other two proms first time as blm. I would have won this one as well, had the following not happened.

Our Party set up was Me (blm), a WHM, x2 SMN, x2 War/nin. Typical promyvion set up right? We had heard how difficult Promyvion - Holla was, and we all hoped to defeat it tonight. We would have succeded had one of the summoners not had the mental disease called retardation. I don't know why I didn't wise up at the first floor that the guy was a complete moron, but I guess I was too blinded by the potential Lufaise Meadows access I had so long wanted.

Before I begin talking about the horrible tragedy that befell my party, I must discuss the pains it took us to get to the top. On the first floor, the retarded summoner somehow managed to aggro four mobs at the same time. With only two tanks, I ended up testing my tanking skills as blm (thank God I'm a thief main and had capped evasion).

When we made it to the second floor, all hell broke loose. It took us an hour to get off this floor, once again because of the dumb *** summoner. Our party would always manage to narrowly evade the agro, then the summoner would run right into it. Plus, we had to go to all the MR's, as we kept picking the wrong one (no MR in it).

When we hit the Third Floor, the summoner ran straight into a Thinker. We let him die and just raised him afterwards.

When we hit the Fourth Floor, the summoner decided to go AFK in the ******* MIDDLE OF THE FOURTH FLOOR WITHOUT TELLING ANYONE. At one point, which is inevitable on that floor, the warrior caught aggro for probably the first time the entire night. So, I ordered everyone to just make a break for the castle. It all turned out ok, until I noticed that only five of us had zoned into the spire. Sure enough, the sixth was the brain-dead summoner, who was sitting somewhere in the middle of the fourth tier. I gave him a <call> and told him how displeased I was with his performance that far. We went back and tried to help him; but three of our party members died in the process.

So after a death spree, and killing enough mobs in the promyvion that I had 2k experience added to my buffer, plus having obtained all three forms of recollections of Animas, we finally arrived at the Mega Boss. Now, I made sure to tell the summoners this specifically, as the fate of our entire battle depended solely on them not ******** up: "Disable Astral Flow as a macro, and do not use it until the mob hits 20%."

For a recap of our battle plan, it was fairly simple. First, I would start the fight with ES + Paralyze. Then, the warrior with the highest VIT would voke first, and mighty strikes. After him, the other warrior would mighty strikes and voke off as he needed. This was to make sure the warrirors kept hate easier throughout the fight. Next, when its paralyze wore, I would inform the white mage who would recast it. The fight would go on like normal from thier: Nuke a little, heal a little etc. When the mega boss hit 20%, we were going to use a Hysteroanima and double Astral Flow the boss with the avatar it is weak against. I would Manafont to clean up the rest. It sounds like a fool-proof, honest to God strategy. Then, like all strategies, it was tested to its limits.

I had specifically told the party not to eat any food, but that didn't stop down-syndrome boy. He also used his scroll of reraise outside of the BC, which does him no good at all. No use crying over spilled milk though, so I told everyone to enter.

The fight started off well. ES + Paralyze landed, the warriors were holding hate pretty well too. I had figuerd out the bosses' elemental, which was wind. I told the summoners this so they could prep for the fight. Then, one of the warriors began to DC, right in the middle of his Mighty Strikes (this warrior was also the one with the Hysteroanima). To make matters worse, when the boss had 90% of his life left the stupidity stricken summoner two houred. To make this even more stupid, he used Garuda's Astral Flow -_-. I knew at that point that we had probably lost, but I still wanted to keep trying. We fought with what he had left, which was basically four players and a useless summoner. At around 40% of the boss' HP, the warrior reconnected. I thought: maybe there is hope. Apparently, so did the rest of my team. However, Dip **** would ruin the day for us yet again. For reasons unknown to me, he had decided to not heal any of his MP back up. He was just standing there, staring at the fight (I believe he actually went AFK). Had this moron saved some MP and healed up, we may have actually won. But that is not the end of the story either. The Mega Boss was now at 20% life, and starting to spam trinary absorption (HP drain). I told our party to carry out the strategy as planned, because I believed I could still Manafont the difference in the boss' HP. The good summoner two houred the mob, bringing him down to 5% hp. I then went crazy with manafont to drag the boss down to 2% hp. We would have won the fight with my manafont, but for reasons unknown again, the retarded summoner had poisona'd me (I did not know this at the time and just thought my poison had wore off and I had newbed it. I figured it out after checking my chat logs). Halfway through my manafont, the boss used his AoE sleep/curse move, making me useless. I noticed now that the moronic summoner had began healing mp and I told him in party chat "nuke the living **** out of the mob!". The intelligent summoner had heard me, and began throwing everything he had left. His nuke was resisted, and brought the mob down to 1% hp. Note, at this point I had believed we won, as tard summoner had approx 50 mp, which was just enough for one final nuke. Instead, he amazed me yet again: he cured the tank who wasn't even in red HP. Not only did he cure the tank, he cure II'd the tank. At this point, none of us had any MP and the cure II had ripped hate from the warrior. The mega boss used trinary absorption again on the retarded summoner and drained him full, bringing his HP to 9%. I knew then we had lost.
With no MP left, we had little to do. Another sleep+curse had the warrior's unable to act: The white mage and smart summoner went down. I was trying as hard as I could to rest up MP for just one last nuke, but it was no use. He had drained his way back up to 15%, like I feared he would. I died with a heavy sigh.

As soon as we were all down, I told everyone to HP. We had no reraise up, and we didn't have the strength to try again. The tard summoner then got angry and chewed out the party for being a "waste of time and experience to us". I kicked him from the party and blisted him so I would not say anything I'd... regret.

For reasons implemented to avoid a flame war on this person, I shall not release their name. I shall say however that they do have a level 75 job and should know the basic methods of strategizing in this game.

Please, if you are going to ignore everything a party leader advises you on doing, don't join that party. They are not doing it because they want to be your boss, or because they are on an ego trip. They are doing it because they want to win, plain and simple. When you join their party, you are agreeing to listen to their strategy and to adhere to it, not to do what you believe is right. If the party fails, it is the party leader's fault. If the party wins, it is the party's accomplishment.

So really. Do not join a party/mission/anything if you're too dumb to learn how to read -_-.

Poor Shao, Thats gotta suck.

I can see someone doing something stupid once during a mission, it happens even to the best of us but constantly do bad things takes skill (or a complete lack of as the case may be)

If you ever need someone to do promy's with I've got WHM, BLM and BST that I can go with. RDM with a weeks notice (short by 3 levels)

Promy's are messed up sometimes. When we did it Mea was a piece of cake (Each of us only went through one Hystero, thats all we needed) but holla took all of our anima. Others in our LS said the opposite.

Lol, I've led Sophus' LS up Holla, no aggro, at all, besides the bit on 4th floor. I normally don't offer, but if you need experienced SMN up that ****, I'll go, lol.

Wow and Promyvions are the easy part of Cop. Well Shao once you get to Sea eventually atleast you will never have to see that Smn there. These are not like ZM's where 3-4 competent people can carry the others through the missions.

Wow, if had that been me in your spot I would have kicked him when he decided to go AFK the second time, Chew him out when he got back (by saying rather... let's just say "mean" things) and then black listed him...

But then of course we'd have to escape (or whatever you do in a Promyvion, I don't have CoP) and get a new summoner...

Maybe that's what you should have done?

I need promyvion-holla. 37 smn. I have carby mitts and moon bauble, but no fenrir yet :(

I got CoP when it came out, and still can't get to the new region. Why the hell did they make it so difficult to get there? I have a bunch of items saved up for quests, but I can't turn them in until I get to the new region.

CoP is not difficult at all if you prepare for the fights and cooperate. Of course you're going to lose if you spend a grand total of 5 minutes getting ready for a Prommy, bring level 15 gear and no drinks or potions, and then watch TV while you're in the Prommy or decide to go off on your own and abandond the party.

Seriously. If you want to do a mission, spend at least 30 minutes reading up on it, getting the necessary items and make sure you have enough time to do it.

I returned to Promyvion-Holla with the same setup today, but replaced the newb summoner. We finished the prom in less than two hours, and defeated the Mega Boss.

I stepped into Lufaise Meadows for the first time in my life and was relieved.

Note: The summoner we replaced the idiot with was a "newb" (highest job was 40). However, he performed almost 3x as better as the "experienced" (level 75) summoner; he never once aggro'd, he used his anima and two hour at the same time, and he was a major help to the party instead of a time sink like the other. Proof that being a low level doesn't make you suck in these missions; intelligence however does.

yea we did beat the nuts out of the holla boss, too bad nalya had to die ;-;

after our success, i figured i'd go try mea and dem. well.....you had one bad apple, i had like 4. the tards did not know how to avoid aggro (or got unlucky, whatever it happens) and tried to stop and fight. this was in mea, so we died like 3 times before my thick head realized this was not going to work (i was determined to make it work, but no one knows how to read). i did dem with another group prior to this, we made it up to top no sweat. the boss kicked our ***. it turns out this "easy" boss requires more than one anima, which no guide i've seen mentioned.

so yea....impatient tards who cannot be bothered to get some previous knowledge or look up what others have encountered will bring my 57 war down to level 3
