I've been thinking about this lately. We all know the gilseller/gilbuyer problems, debates over ethics, etc, etc.
What kinds of things would you have a repentant gilbuyer to for forgiveness? Just dropping x mil gil where nobody can benefit from it won't work, the buyer likely has skill, level, or craft gains that just can't be undone easily, if at all. Giving the gil away to someone who didn't buy it doesn't work either, you get the same kind of 'power without discipline' problems the gilbuyer had in the first place.
Remember that not all gilbuyers knew they were doing something wrong, some may have gotten FFXI, a lvl 50 char, and 5 mil gil from their parents for Christmas. So any suggestions should be fair...(ie, no 'delete your character, account, say 400 Hail Marys, burn your discs, then dunk your head in flaming hot oily pig diareha(sp?)...as tempting as it is to say!)
