Stuff like this is why I try to avoid the Shiva forums occasionally.
This is an abuse of the karma system of this forum. If Barchiel isn't a scholar, maybe that's because people don't think he's helpful like scholar's (or above) on this website usually are. The fact that he creates rate up threads just to have such a status is sad. I don't care if you like him or hate him, or anyone else on this forum. But I'd prefer you rate people for the content of their posts, not because you want to give someone a rate up for no reason other than you want to.
And the Shiva forum does this with a LOT of people, not just Bar, I don't mean it to be a personal attack. I'd just prefer people to use the system like it's meant to be.

But why support useless posts? The main usefulness of these forums, as far as I can tell, is to aid us all in our FFXI experience. This means tips on how to do our jobs better (job forums) and a place to meet up and coordinate with people on our server for help on quests (Server forums).
I can post on this forum about my experience helping someone for 8+ hours and earning nothing in return for it, and I won't get a rate up. Someone posts a thread going "Rate me up plz~~~!!!!" and they're instantly booted to scholar? Doesn't that seem, I don't know, wrong to anyone?

Actually this thread was created to counter the effects of somebody who was karma camping Doomygir, as seen Here, but sure, go ahead SirEagle, ruin all our fun ; ;

I think we've all helped ppl with nothing in return. Also in life. I helped this old lady crossed the street the other day. I want my Rate Up, damnit!! lol, jk. But if you don't like these things, don't post on them. No sense in being a thread-****.

That is the smartest thing Ive ever read on these forums. You should post that in all the gilseller this and nerf that forums, Because when I post my comments tehre, I get rated down to oblivion because other tools who have 10 posts and are sage status like to do that . Please share your wisdom with the group. Otherwise, live a little, if this karma system affected the karma behind existence, many would have perished a looong time ago.
