Well, gil farmers will always be there. Its just that things has gotten "ludacris" (LUDA!!). Anyway, yes, prices did rise across the board pretty much. Not only stuff like Leaping Boots, but also Crystals. But come on, when these things reach 1-2 mil? That's just crazy. Selling them back like that will be HARD to stop. Like RKenshin said, if you try to be the "hero" and sell back low, someone will buy it and sell it back high. Hell, that's actually a good way to make money. Especially before and after updates. But the base prices has reached way too high. For the rich, its no big deal. But for the "working class" players, it is. So all the newer ppl might either be N.Q. geared players, or gil buyers.
Do I hate gil sellers? Yes. Constantly camping common cool crap continuously. (say that 3-times fast) I think its the "popular" thing to say, "I hate gilsellers," but that gets nothing done. When you get V. Claw, I don't expect you to sell it any lower than the last one sold. I feel that eventually, the high prices will kill itself. People will not be that stupid to buy a N.Q. item for so much. H.Q., yeah, people will...for status I guess.
The thing that I hate the most is that the game isn't so fun anymore. Yes, MMORPG's are about being dedicated, but not selling your soul to it. It's about FUN first. If you are not enjoying yourself on a GAME, there's no reason to play it. Once you get good, yes of course, you want to increase your status. But FFXI takes it to a new lvl. ALWAYS having to depend on others and such is a major pain. But when you accomplish your goal, you really feel like you did something. I guess that's the best part. I rambled on too much.
