QUESTION ABOUT SKY/HNM LINKSHELLS...Follow

Happy Friday to you all!!!!!

Here's my question(s) but first a comment;

I have belonged to only two ls since I started this game; last one is a ls that my friend and I made and is probably in Guinness Book for world's smallest! o.O I guess I have always said that it didn't matter to me whether or not I got to Sky; whether or not I got into one of the high ls; however, as I get closer now and hear some of my friends talk about it and the fun and how beautiful, It occurred to me that perhaps the time might come that I change my mind, which brings me to these questions:

Just in the past few days one of my fellow ls members mentioned to me that he had 'applied' to a Sky/HNM ls and was very excited. Last nite he told me that he wasn't accepted; I asked 'why' and he said he guessed he wasn't very impressive to the people.

Could all of you who have/or are in one of them tell me what exactly the process is in 'applying'? What are the things that are looked for? Do you all do a background check or something (w/in Van a Diel) to determine how we get along with people? Do you take a vote among members? Do you tell people why they couldn't get in?

Just curious since there seems to be a sort of mystique that seems to surround the 'high' level ls. Thanks all!!!!

For DVSIII here is what we are concerned about:

1. That you are willing to help with LS activities. (You can really only take someone's word for this one and just see how it goes.)
2. That you are a person who doesnt cause trouble. (Most of us have been around a long time and you know how this game is... if you are an asshat who does nothing but start crap people hear about it/you.)
3. That DVSIII be your only Sky/HNM LS. (This is one of those that I personally dont like but it is a necessity with these activities. If an HNM on a 24-hour clock is about to pop and it drops some good items that will make the LS some gil or get a member a drop the competition is high. You dont want someone in your HNM LS hanging out with the competition and causing you to lose the spawn.)
4. That you have a job leveled to 60+. (There is more than enough time to level within our schedule of activities.)
5. That you have Rank 6 so that we can begin getting Sky as soon as possible. (If someone were close to Rank 6 we would assist in getting there ASAP. We have some folks that really enjoy kicking the crap out of the Shadow Lord.)

For DVSIII here us what we are NOT concenred about:

1. Sky access. (We will gladly help new members get this and we have a lot of our DVS memebers approaching the level that we will probably begin some runs soon to get Sky.)

We dont take a vote per se but if someone in the LS has a major issue with someone wanting to join then we talk about it and make a decision from there. If we had to turn someone away they would certainly be told why.

If you are interested in joining you simply send a tell to Miriel, Kramer, Jae, Alivas, Ruroni, Alekzander, or Shinkyu.

And was that mystink? Smiley: lol

A lot of the high level linkshells that exist in Shiva now are pretty full. You'd have to be superman to get accepted to a lot of them. A lot have closed membership now. There are a few with open membership but like I said, superman.

The best way to get going on end game stuff now I believe is to join a younger, newer linkshell that is mostly 60s and aiming towards end game activities. Like the linkshell mentioned above.

It'd be more fun to 'build your own' rather than to join an old fogey established shell anyways.

DVSIII is new to the sky scene as an LS, but we do have veterans that know about sky and HNM's. DVSIII has about 40 members currently ranging from 60-75, and we have enough members to be able to kill Kirin, we are just working our way up in experince level of the newer players to sky. We have items already to pop Genbu a couple times and will be fighting him the first time as a LS a couple days from now.

My advice to you is to do some research to determine if an End Game shell/HNMLS is right for you. Some people love it, but others can't stand it. There is a lot of compition, repitition, drama and other stuff some people like and some people don't associated with HNMLS.

Personally, I looked into end game stuff and found it not for me. I don't spend alot of time in game (spend more time on the boards) therefore I don't have a lot of time to commit. This would make it hard for me to be productive and wanted by a HNMLS. Plus, it seems to me HNMLS tend to bring out the worst in people, IMHO. Greed seems to become the driving force, making LS of respectible players become cheaters, botters, MPKers, trash talkers, ect.

There are literally applications to fill out, like college or job apps. What jobs you have, missions you are on, gear, past experience, kinda overkill if you ask me, but meh, do what you feel is necessary I guess.

So, look into it, look into the shells and pick one that fits you. I have been getting to know the guys from DVS and they are good peoples in my book.

Heya Fem. a couple things I will say that some have aleady said as well, be very careful when choosing one of these HNMLS' for me it was literally the "END GAME" for me, it made me hate the game, it was more like a job than it was a game. Some LS' aren't as strict and some are extremely strict, to where if you are online you are expected to come to join in anything the LS is doing, your expected to be online when events are to take place, and in the LS at all or almost all the time. I lost track of alot of my lower lvl friends and friends in other HNMLS' then bacame competition, you can't really gossip with them if your out camping a NM or if you just killed one due to giving out ToD,or risk them coming to camp against you etc.

HNMLS' can be great, but usually there is lots of drama surrounding them, especially at big HNM camps. Also though they are the neccasary evil for god armor, and usuaully dynamis. I personally didn't care if I ever got the god armors, I had more fun just doing my own thing and helping my friends.

To me "End Game" things are extremely fun and I enjoy them a lot.

Luckily that's what my whole LS is based upon for the most part. I get a fair share of Sky, Dynamis, HNMs, etc.

Now, things you'd have to consider are whether you want to put time into the repetitive process of end game events. Doing the same dynamis over and over again, killing the same gods over and over, hunting pop items, losing claims (especially after camping for 3 hours); some of it's just not fun.

I guess I find it more fun as a tank, especially when it comes to HNMs/Gods, nothing is more fun and a rush then watching your hp drop by 900 in a single move haha. Takes a good team to be able to pull stuff off and luckily the team I have is good so I get to enjoy these things^^
