There was an update? or one soon?

Btw I still don't have ninja so whatever it is that SE did to them doesn't matter to me.

I'm really interested to se how nerfed rngs will be now if it's about distance they won't be able to use those 2 weapon's to get that extra bit of TP building anymore if they wanna do optimal dmg.

EDIT :
FINAL FANTASY XI Development Team (6/30/2005) :
Changes to Utsusemi and Ranged Attacks

The next version update will make battle more strategic for players who use Utsusemi or ranged attacks.

*Changes to the ninjutsu "Utsusemi"
In the next update, the player's enmity will decrease when a shadow image created by Utsusemi is absorbed by an attack.

*Changes to Ranged Attacks
Soon, the distance of the monster from the player will determine the damage and accuracy of ranged attacks. This determination will vary from weapon to weapon, as will the ideal distance for maximum damage. In addition, the higher the monster's level is with regard to the player, the less damage will be dealt with a ranged attack. This system is similar to that of melee attacks, but the difference in damage will not be as great.

Just wondering if there was any reason SE targeted these two specifics in the next update?

NIN isn't really meant to be a tank
RNG is way to overpowered after they gimped all the other DD jobs

That would be my guess.

Damn, I was about to start lvling my rng too. Mainly because my main is drk and thought by switching to rng I'd experience what all these other DDs call "party". >_>

But now that I think about it whenever SE trys to gimp a job it didn't really have that bad of an effect on them, unless I didn't notice something which is likely lol.

Hey who knows with nins shadows being nerfed by loosing enimity drk/thf (66-75) and thf might just be high demand to keep hate. Really now rng's will have to make a big dessision. Should i stay back and gain slow tp and do huge dmg, or should i hug the mob build fast tp but do crappy dmg

Glad they aren't nerfing blm yet. Of course we've got that nasty damage cap on our spells. Whether mob is IT+++ or too weak--- our spells do the same damage.

Ok so they are "fixing" some things with rng and nin but any news if any other jobs will get improvements or downgrades?

Well, sounds like they are balancing things out a bit. Glad I got RNG to 75 already. It will be interesting to see RNG DMG vary, as it's usually very consistant. Nerf BLMs? Hmmm, not enough ppl are complaining about them...yet. I DO think that RNG should be a powerful job( RNG has low VIT, HP, DEF and EVA...kinda like a BLM, power is their balance), but they shouldn't control all PTs when ppl make them. Hopefully, some will be happy with this.

Gimping rng's and such is good and all...as long as they made mobs a tad easier so kills aren't a lot slower =P

And your explanation for Arhat's gear is...?

Yeah, Xellith. I DO think there should be more than 1 kind of tank. If PLD was the ONLY tank, do you realize how long it would take to make a PT? Be mature about this bro, there's a lot of players that put tons of gil into NIN. I don't think "pwned" is the correct word to be using.

I swear to god SE hates me lol.
I switch from PLD to RNG and now they nerf rng's. Then they nerf nins which means there will be even more plds. ugh. i quit.

They moreso "balanced" RNGs. This WILL help Arrowburn PTs, since you lose hate with shadows, RNG/NIN will NOT have to hold back.

But this sucks for NINs. I say it again:

THERE NEED TO BE MORE THAN ONE TYPE OF TANK!!!

If there is only ONE type, you'd have to wait until PLDs seek, which will be like waiting for a WHM in the dunes. Ninja as a DD?? Give them Throwing WSs and I'd say maybe. Every other DD can out DMG them. Sometimes I wonder if SE knows their *** from a hole in the ground. I'm glad I didn't put Merits in Emnity, I was gonna lvl NIN. Not anymore lol.

To weaken a job class that is very expensive with up-keep is NOT smart. This will lessen the NIN population and probably kill most THFs (since a LOT of PLDs don't like THFs). I wonder when will mages get nerfed lol.

Sorry to all NINs out there.
