My favorite buddy on the Shiva server is easily Vehante. He's done numerous incredible things for me, such as PL my subs, help out with AF gear and even leave groups to come help with rank missions. The most impressive thing he has done to date however was to leave a party he was leveling one of his 70+ jobs in to come and raise me in Castle Oztroja as I lie dead, about 2 minutes from the door to the shrine room, wherein I would complete my final magicite mission and gain rank 5. No one else in the area would raise. A lvl 51 whm that I saw passing refused to. Vehante, who was, I believe a sam/thf at the time, when told where I had died, so close to the end, used a warp cudgel to return to his homepoint where he changed jobs. He then raced off to Castle Oztroja, making it there with barely 3 minutes on my timer. After raising me, he stayed by me to make sure I completed the quest and than finally warped himself back home to attempt to find a new party. He basically left an effective exp group, raced out to the middle of nowhere and wasted an hour of his own time just to give me a raise and escort me the last 50 feet of a mission. I'd say thats pretty selfless.
There are a few people I pass in the game now-a-days that I just can't stand but I'm not really inclined to name names. There's a certain rdm in the low 60's whom I did 6-1 with who was a complete moron. Traveling with a group of 16 people, we would catch aggro and such on the way to the mobs we had to fight. When we arrived outside the little cave each mob was in, we'd need to rest. Several group leaders would blatantly state something like 'alright, everyone hold on a few minutes and rest to full, this guy has a whole bunch of hp'. The genius rdm would storm straight into the cave however, aggroing the mob and getting one or two people killed each time, including a lvl 69 drk friend, who came at my request, and ended up lvl'ing down. When people organize a large group that is dependent on the charity of some patient, higher lvl players, it's best to calm down and wait for one of the 70+ party members to go spawn the mob, instead of going and making yourself responsible for several peoples deaths.
