The LS I am in is currently experiencing our first member dispute. The problems began when our LS took on the members of a smaller LS along with a few questionable additions by a long time member and sack holder. The new members alienated many long standing, well respected members. One of which decided to start his own LS, taking with him half of the current roster, all of whom are well liked. The main problem is the leader of our shell has been AFK due to work and other games(GTA:SA).

My questions is simply this; as a pearl sack holder, should I take it upon myself to boot the bad elements without consulting our leader?

I know there are many LS leaders on this board, how would you feel if a sack holder did this? Better yet, has this happened to your shell?

Thanks for taking the time to read this and for any advice you may have.

To be honest with you. If I was afk for a long time I would be grateful if other sack holders booted people that were destroying my linkshell. Just be sure you only boot those that need to be and that it is necessary. From what it sounds like it is necessary to boot a few from that shell.

Not sure how the shell is setup but mine has ranks so pretty much there is a person who is second in charge that has pretty much full authority.

If yours is not then i'd do what needs to be done for the time being and consult the leader when he comes back to see what to do in the future.

yea its not always an easy decision. But I would suggest that if these peopla are "destroying" the LS, then you should boot them and talk to the leader about it later. You can always hand back LPs but you can't always repair the damage people do on the LS. I have a good numbers of sack holders in my LS and I told them all that if I am not on and someone is causing a lot of trouble on the LS to boot them immediatly then try to discuss the problem without it being over the LS, then contact me about the situation to see if there is something that I would like to do, like tlak to them about it or let them beack in, etc. From my experiences it's best to get it out of the LS as soon as the problem starts, or else it could get even more out of hand. Hope that helps ya a little. also you may want to ask your leader to appoint a 2nd in command person that will be the acting leader if he is away.

I am in a LS that recently merged with another LS. In my case, my LS was larger. For the smaller LS that merged, any problematic members were removed. As a sack holder I would think this wouuld be okay for you to do. The leader has entrusted you with a sack for a reason, to monitor the LS when he is not there.

Hmm thats a tough one. I would say someone in the LS needs to take the place of the leader while the leader is gone. If you have any idea who has maybe been there the longest, or kinda of takes the role of second in command, talk to them. If thats you, then i would first try to talk to the leader of the LS that migrated to yours and ask them to do something, and if all else fails GIVE EM THE BOOT.

LOL sorry i like that saying.

Update: Our LS leader came back and made some sweeping changes. I logged on to the following LS message, "I would like to FU to those of you who have ruined my linkshell!". He purged the shell of some bad apples and placed a temporary ban on all pearl sacks. I stated my case and had my sack restored, and using your suggestions I am trying to setup a chain of command to ensure this doesn't happen again. Members who had left are slowly making their way back, and standerds are being put into place for how the shell operates. Thanks again for the advice. :)
