Does anyone know how to actually RP in FFXI Online? I just spent 200 dollars for it on my PS2, and so far in my world - (Shiva) no one talks to each other, and when they do its - "np" or "lol" I was just wondering if anyone knew of the world which isn't.. erm newbish, I know I'm a newbie to FFXI but I use to RP on AOL and it's kinda dissappointing if this is how all the worlds act... A couple people on another board told me to look around for a Linkshell, but I'm kinda confused.. can anyone help me out please?

I'm not sure if he's still around but ask Arlack on Shiva server if you can join his RP Linkshell, he'll probably let you in it.

Often if you tell a party you want to roleplay people some people will join in. I usually role play if someone else initiates it as long as the roleplaying doesn't get too mean natured (I am Galka and no one likes to be constantly insulted and this seems to be how people role play with Galka's).
I just got the game this past weekend (PC if it means anything). I've been rp'ing ever since I started on Shiva, but haven't really talked to anyone. I'm in San d'Oria and I oft times go to the Cathedral to pray and kneel when signet is cast and other little things. Most times I get these strange looks from people.
If there is someone or someones out there that are also into rp'ing, then I'd like to be a part of it (thanks for that link Cecion). Currently I see people running around bashing beasts and crafting. I don't want to bother them so I keep to myself.
Agawulf: I'm sure if there were interactive emotes, people wouldn't insult Galka's as much since you could fling them across the room or something.

lovely i guess you just haven't been around the right poeple. There may not be a whole lot of RPers that play, but I have been playing this game since its release in october of last year, you just have to give it time, there are lots of poeple out there that are really nice and like the talk and stuff.
I suggest you find a linkshell. They are a good way to make friends, swap info, and have a good time.

Shiva has one of the kinder communities of any server as well. RPing isnt exactly big riht now. I imagine that in a few years the idea might snowball though. Lots of kids playing now that will go to the bigger beter thing in time. Be patient though ^^

My entire family plays this game. My mom, Xuna (Rdm69)is always helping people. My dad, Worfoxx (War75) will help whenever he can.
This server is friendly, you just need to find the right people and the right linkshell groups. If you find yourself in a social linkshell, you will want to leave because you wont get any help-just advice. There are two linkshells that are considered to be the *BEST* of the Shiva server: Yellowcake and Vanadielselite. Both of these linkshells have a really good reputation. I dont know too much about Yellowcake linkshell but my mom and dad are in Vanadielselite, and its a nice linkshell. You have to be 50+ to apply on their website to get accepted. They do lots of quests, missions, rank, ballistas, NM hunts, dynamis, CoP, Zilart, and Sky.
This is the type of linkshell you want to look for, a linkshell where you are going to be able to get the help you need so you can help your linkshell as you get higher. If you find the right people and the right shell, you wont be feeling the way you are. It is a nice server but there a many jerks who like to start drama-just be sure to stay away from them.
If anyone reading this forum knows any other good linkshells, i'm sure they will post them as well.
