A run in with a RMTFollow

#1 Aug 10 2006 at 12:01 PM Rating: Decent
About a week ago I was in Altep running around killing stuff with my BLU, and was trying to stay away from the areas that most people use as camps for lvling pts. while I was running around I noticed that there was a group of players in an area that I used to use to lvl my NPC. I had never seen a pt use this area before and as I got closer to the pt I noticed the lack of LS on each player, the odd looking names, and after doing a few checks, the somewhat worthless gear for a pt of that lvl, blah blah blah. Well I decided to just sit and watch as I rested MP.

After about 5 minutse I was checked by one member of the pt, so I /wave, and get checked again. So a few mintutes pass and like clockwork the 3 BLMs Taru's all pop up at the same time. one of the other players moves a few steps and the taru's all follow. The "tank" Pulls a mob and the fight starts to go alright for the first minute or so, again like clock work the three BLMs start casting the same spell at the same time. This is where the it got funny, using a -ga spell the BLMs end up hitting a passing mob and all 3 wipe hard. The other 3 in the pt are able to kill the beetle and the three BLMs all HP, and run back.

After a few more minutes they start again and the same thing happened. I thought this was kind of funny, so I went to change jobs to my WHM and came back and was shocked to find 2 more pts, the same set up had joined the first. Now I was kind of annoyed by this because one of them had a PL with them. The PL was helping all three PTs and this just pushed me over the edge. I buff up, Stoneskin, Protect4 Regen ... Blaze Spikes. I then start to "PL" the pts myself, and a few Cure V's on the tank and Haste once or twice each mob stole hate long enough for the mob to hit me and spikes to kill the exp.

Thinking back on that day, I had alot of fun ******** 3 pts out of exp, and knew that I was doing something that if a GM was called in to deal with I would have been busted in a heart beat, but after 45 minutes, and keeping the exp close to 0 for all three pts, I never oncec was checked, got a /tell, had and /emote, or did I get a warning from a GM.

So I wonder now, are the RMTs willing to risk a run in with the GMs if we start "fighting" back on the new wave of bots that are being trained? Or will they, like the ones I ran into, just deal with the fact that even though they tried to move camp 3 times I kept them from lvling for an hour.

It makes me sad to think of how much they can effect the game by getting the items that they jack up the prices on, that people by with the gil they bought , just to get the gil back. To solve the problem is easy; Stop buying Gil!! But greed and people being lazy is going to keep that from happening.

**edit**

After I posted this the first time I sat back and thought about the fact that the real reason I posted in the first place was due to my wanting to vent. You, me, everyone that enjoys playing the game should be mad as hell at what is going on. But at the same point in time I remind myself that no matter what happens, at any given time in the world, there will always be someone trying to make money anyway they can. And this being said there will also be someone else standnig in line ready to buy what ever that person is selling.

There is alot that SE could do to help stop the problem. Making the AH pointless by changing everything in the game to rare/ex isn't one of them. That isn't fair to all those people that have spent hours and hours doing things in the game and following the rules. The fact that we the players have control over the prices at the AH is a wonderful thing and that shouldn't be taken away. But the idea that I have seen voiced before by other people of getting rid of the ability to Trade/Send gil from one player to another, could have the needed effect to stop the RMTs.

This would allow everyone to still set the price of items on the AH, and we would still be able to trade/buy/sell as normal. But it would also ensure that there would be a running log of everything. It's a thought, it's not even close to perfect and it would cause everyone to panic for the first week or two.

If nothing else, it would stop people from spamming in jeuno and white gate trying to sell the same damn items over and over and over again...

It's just insane how much of this is going on. These parties are everywhere, and they're ******** all the other parties out of exp. It's mindblowing that this isn't seen as the least bit "suspicious" when there are a hundred other parties just like it. It's good to see someone doing something about it in any way, shape or form. Atta boy!

Yeah, there appears to be a new gilselling farm working on most servers (might just be the same people leveling up new characters after the old ones got banned).

Saw them in Gustaberg a month ago perhaps. 18 gilsellers divided in 3 parties. Later on I saw the same people in Valkuurm already level 20 killing all the lizards and gobs that level 10-12 parties experienced on.

Kuzotz is most likely under beastmen control due to their leveling in Altepa.

At first I thought it was just these 18 new characters that they had, but a quick "/sea all Bastok rank 1" showed me that there are a lot more of them.

Next christmas is going to be fun.

If SE is smart, and maybe a little devious, let all these new characters slide under the radar for now... let the RMT people think they've got it made... and then pull out the ban stick right at the start of the holiday season, make them take a hit at the busiest shopping time of the year. So instead of making any money they'll be scrambling to lvl up new characters all over again during the xmas season.

A few weeks ago my ls was in sky trying to get triggers. I had logged off after a bit cause we kept getting screwed over by the gs but when I got on the next day the ls was raving about how my linkmate slaughtered the gs after they stole mother globe from us. Apparently after our blm killed mg's babies the gs stole it from us so my lm grabbed a defender orb and trained the robot into the room. Anyone who does sky know those things don't go away rawr! And the gs got slaughtered by it!!! He did it like 3 or 4 times and each time all of them got killed ;D They claimed to call a gm and even claimed the gm was there at one point but my lm never got busted or sent to jail or anything. I think they just say it to scare people, but unlucky for them my linkmate would have gone to jail willingly and did not run away to catch them in their BS. My hero *-* haha :D

i would have said.. "im trying to skill up my evasion" /ma "Ice Spikes" <me>

*repetitive gilseller rant: on*

I just dont like how they all got organized all of the sudden. Sky, the billion blm pts everywhere. I hate to be a "debby-downer" bit i dont see this problem being fixed any time soon. Yea SE gonna ban them all, thats funny. IMO if they really wanted too, after 4 years+ of service they would have been gone. SE cares about the Money. They dont give a **** about gilsellers. Who the **** knows. All i know, the rise of the gilsellers happened after SE nerfed mpk.. not gonna elaborate but thats my opinion.

I play for my friends and for my fun, i can make my gil just fine, im just waiting for them to cut there prices so i can make even more gil off the inflation (because we all know its gonna happen).. This might sound like a broken-record, but blaim the people that buy the gil. There the ones that are ******* up the game. Stop giving them your money, i know we all want to get a relic weapon or that ubber gear (only its not because this all isnt real its game).. save your money you work hard for IRL to get a girl or something. Hell, you could buy a stripper with it, i dont care. Just dont buy gil, because if you buy gil you know you seriously are a loser. You failed life. You Should just quit life because life obviously quit on you.. Dont buy gil, no more gilsellers.. But this is unrealistic, there will always be people that cant figure out how to be sucessful at a fake unrealistic game. Like ZOMG I CANT MAKE GIL I DONT KNOW HOW I GOTTA BUY IT! Buying gil is no different from typing in a cheat code, i mean you beat the game, but did you really? lol.. If you are a person that buys gil, maybe this game aint for you, because your obviously not that good at it. Go play grand theft auto.. wahahah ok im done

*repetitive gilseller rant: off*

They're indeed very easy to spot: a full party of anons, usually with no linkshells, odd names, senseless bazaar comments like "fgsfdfsd", usually most of them are tarus with a galka tank and they always wear horrible, really really really horrible gear. It's always so obvious to tell!

Why won't SE just recognize that they're RMT? Even though there's no hard evidence, it doesn't take a genius to see that those parties are no normal players.

I find the current number of RMTs leveling new characters very worrying. In the past week, I've run into about 20 or so RMT parties.
Like today, I saw 1 in Qufim, 1 at the entrance of GC, and even an alliance of 3 parties in the GC basement. Hell is gonna break loose in Vana'Diel soon.

I actually think that the latest batch of gilseller names are from the random name generator. The Galka and Taru names fit perfectly at least.

There is one reason that Gil Sellers are leveling characters. That is to get them to sky and get god/un-cursed gear, or go the the 3 Kings, get abjurations, so that when someone buys a character, it's already uber. A cheap account that already has full Hecatomb, or full Koenig, or full Sura, or Zenith! ZOMG BUY BUY cause I am rich n00b! >.> Also, Kirins Osode can be sold. 20-25mill now due to gil sellers. They sell the stones and seals to LSs. So Sky/HNM linkshells that DO buy these stones/seals from the GS mules... are helping the Gilsellers... They are giving them loads of gil to turn around and sell back (probably from the same player that baught the stone/seal) to someone and give all the profits to the gil sellers. It's sad really. SE bans real players who use a flee hack but gil sellers are left free to roam around. SE fails life. Not players. Make EVERY item Rare/EX. Even Crystals. Would solve all gilseller problems REAL fast.
