Maybe I am missing something here - so please correct me if I do - but

if people cannot enjoy the service they pay for because of some problems over at PoL, isn't it only fair that PoL will compensate them for this?

I do remember PoL giving a couple of members a refund in the past because of some specific problems. And what happened to me and many other people, most of them from Canada and Europe, a couple of weeks ago - not being able to log on for more than a day without any explanation whatsoever other than pointing at people's server ... yet we could all come back together around the same time - shows that PoL isn't exactly flawless.

I do realize it is silly to ask for compensation for just one day of "discomfort", but the general idea isn't all that weird, right?

they can get there money back when POL gives us our money back for all those /sea ah failures, and maintainance extensions, and JPonry maintanance's that kept the ToDs of stuff in jponry.. when SE does that, i say they can get there money back.

It was at least 2 or 3 months straight of the AH & /sea crashing. That was really frustrating but I can't see POL refunding anyone, they haven't really been that helpful before. I remember a couple of years back they had an update that didn't interact very well with firewalls and for an entire month customer services answer was reload the disks and redownload the updates. Finally I got a CSR that told me that the last update had been giving error messages to the PC users who had firewalls on their systems.

Note to self: Hates the X-Box Emo's

Definition: Pussies who want to be given everything.

Stop pissing, whining and moaning. If you really wanted the game you should have bought it for PC at the CoP releases you dumbasses. Stop whining and get over yourselves and the problems you faced.

POL isnt perfect, we already know that you fools. Since most of us have played for over a year by this time, we have experienced DDoS attacks, server's crashing for unknown reasons, helluva lot more "emergency" maintenance than you have experienced. And it's true, you're asking for a free week? Jesus, go play Guild Wars or World of Warcraft... Please. FFXI doesnt need anymore whiny emo kids who want everything tyvm. We have enough HNMLS's full of them.

::sighs:: Damn X-box emos...

Speaking of new players:

I remember when the majority of PC players really didn't like the idea of PS2 players invading their game. They were afraid that their game would be overflown with kids and the horrendously stupid acts you can only expect from people who till that date have only been busy trying to jump over barrels and dodge flying objects

Some people even left the game, because they thought it would suck after its PS2 release. "I don't want to play with nOObs" they said. Yes indeed, people already used the word nOOb before the PS2 release (although many did understand the difference between newbie and noob back then), and the use of it really took off after the release.

The influx became a fact, when somebody in the LS complained about someone in his party people immediately went "Lemme guess? PS2, right? Kick that nOOb kid, or disband, and come farm with us". I sure experienced a good share of immature behavior as well, not to mention some mighty stupid acts. But was it all that bad?

I don't think so. I think it was stupid to think that PS2 would suck by definition. And I think it was stupid to think of them as morons who would eventually make this game go down in flames like the Hindenburg.

So, since Sifuspik already introduced a definition that involves the X-Box generation, I really would like people to realize that X-Box players now don't differ at all from PS2 players back then.

Running around like you invented the game isn't smart, isn't funny -- it's stupid. Same goes for saying that everybody knows PoL isn't perfect. Some people never played this game before, so they don't know. And mind you, we have more downtime than usual these days because of the expansion pack, so I think it is understandable the new players are a bit worried about the PoL service.

I think if you cut X-Box people some slack they will catch up just as fast as PS2 payers did. Before you know it you will be able to do important missions with them, and indeed, before you know it they will call YOU - the long time player - a nOOb when you make a tiny accidental mistake. Just like some PS2 players are doing now.

I think you will have more reason to ***** when that happens than you have now.

Have fun in the game^^

Edit: It seems that I can't type and chew gum at the same time. I had to correct a couple of words ; ;

Yeah... you missed an 'e' out of my name ;_; ::offended::

I agree (simply to contradict myself), because the whole 'spanish' thing. No offence guys, it was just a given thing that when you started you sucked. The harsh thing was it was the entire EU population that sucked, but you guys couldnt shut up... So cha.

Luckily when I joined the game, it was before the EU influx, so I was a UK player in an NA world. I sucked. Seriously. 1-32 I sucked so bad. Then I 'matured' in a gaming sense. BUT!

I never said "OMG! MAINT! FREE WEEK FREE WEEK FREE WEEK!", and I'm pretty sure neither did the EU (read: Spanish lol)... The NA players did but nyeh, not many.

So I can understand the X-Box players being 'newbs' but asking for a free week simply 'cause they need extra maint... gimme a break.

Still calling them X-Box emos though :3

Despite teh fact that I am Dutch, I never asekd for a silly free week as well. Maybe it's hard to believe, but nonetheless very true :P

And about sucking as a new player: I like to think I managed to suppress my past in this game very well. I only vagely remember strutting around in the Dunes thinking they wouldn't come any better than me, a lvl 15 warrior...still wearing bronze gear, some shield and a spatha. Jewelry, food, macros...all a waste of money and time....

...*cough*. Owww...it's all coming back to me ;P
